Advice please on protecting New Suspension Arms/Rods

I live locally to TCB. They have been part of the Celica scene for years but Trevor and his son are v active at importing from Japan in mass once they have got a container load. I always get my OEM service parts from them and he showed me his store of Supra OEM bits last year.

 

As you have new parts I would paint them. POR seems to be the choice of classic restorers (yes the Sup is now in that category) and is very hard wearing for chassis parts. I used the old and trusted Hammerite on my 5 years ago and it has held up well on the steel arms but when I go through the suspension again I will probably use POR.

I have the 3M Body Schutz, and used some ACF50 on the suspension arms when I swapped mine out

 

ACF50 , will be an annual thing ; from the aerospace industry mainly used in the biking community

Yes I used ACF-50 for maintenance but not for a protective coat, needs something stronger. Like the ideal of the Schutz so will try that on a test arm first.

You can get the 3M Schutz in a 500ml aerosol but around £15 a can or you could try

Tetrosyl Stonechip which is only £5 for 500ml

I'm just restoring my rear suspension and I'm going to use the POR system. From reading it appears most issues with POR are as a result of poor preparation. The bonus is that you can now top coat with a range of POR aerosol dispensed colours to get back to a stock finish.

 

It's expensive but seems very durable.

I used POR on the brake Calipers , still as good 2 years on
