Dnk
I think i'm definitely turning into Victor Meldrew Why do they make it such a drawn out process to cancel a TV license Why if you have an online account can't you simply go to your account, click on a button saying cancel my license then add the date you wish it to end and job done, ffs. Most places make cancelling a nightmare! Tried to cancel and credit card lately? 15 minutes on the phone to HSBC
el_bandido
Have you tried telling them you don't have a TV? That's an even longer conversation because nobody believes you. Then they start listing mobile devices etc. and I simply tell them I don't watch anything on the BBC, other than Attenborough and I'd rather buy the blue ray box set than watch it live. Dnk
It's bloody ridiculous To take the piss a bit more they have just emailed me thanking me for my enquiry and will respond in 3 working days. Included in the email is a "did you know you can view and manage your account online part " well actually no you fucking can't, tossers lol
JasonR24
They're all lying, money grabbing leaches. A lot of companies use these tactics because they can't help but hassle you into submission then suck some more money out of you.

SupraAyf
Why do they make it such a drawn out process to cancel a TV license. Dunk, we cancelled a TV License for a house the other day but only to have the TV Detector Van outside on the drive 24hrs later. We were all above board (as always) but it was all too apparent that they were after an easy prosecution. Cheeky chappies eh ;-)

Style
Those detector vans are a sham. Yeah from what I've heard there is literally nothing in them. Just a scare tactic to say they have tech to tell whether or not you're watching live TV and scare folk into paying up. Apparently all they do is watch your room/curtains at night time and try to sync the change in light from the TV to a channel that they will scroll through in the van. Then they can approach you with "evidence" that you are breaking the law by not having a TV license
Dnk
They can sit outside for as long as they like, i'm renting the place out and there's nobody in there at the moment

Utter nonsense as radio signals are everywhere and you can only detect transmissions. Then they claimed they have technology to see what is on the screen via the light emitted from the TV. Utter nonsense. If that technology did exist, it would be far too expensive lol Just a sham as a scare tactic
