JasonR24
You might be lucky and under current rules I think it's 3 points and a £60 fine. New rules are more complicated: http://www.evo.co.uk/news/18773/speeding-fines-to-rise-in-april-2017-what-it-could-mean-for-you
JackyBoi
I thought between 33-43mph in a 30 zone meant the option of taking a driver awareness course - at least that's what the letter said when I was caught doing 45 in a 30 and had no choice but to take the SP30 (mind you this was January 2014.) I think you'll get away with doing an awareness course, unless you'd rather take the points for some reason..?!
peter richards
i think the course is £95 and a day off work , so if its £100 and 3 points ill take that as my licence is clean. no point contesting it although it was a guy in a van that caused it , he must of known the van was there , but he pulled infront of me and slammed his brakes on , all i did was change lanes to avoid the crash , picked up a bit of speed to get passed him and bang the van was there . they arnt going to want to listen to that , ive got his reg number
jcbt
If no awareness offered then it could be 6 points and £100+ fine as you are more than 10% over limit. Fingers crossed for you bud
peter richards
hope so , if it wasnt for me avoiding the van i wouldnt of been speeding . i suppose thats better than an accident , funny how the speed was

I understand you have a clean license, surely you'd rather keep it that way...
peter richards
this was a one off , and not really of my doing if you read the reason , so 3 points is bugger all , compared to taking a day off work , and listening to someone telling me what i already know. ive never had any point in all my years driving . which is a lot so im a good boy , just stick the 3 on there and forget about them . i suppose its the guys who speed all the time and have loads of points would chose the course . see what happens when the letter arrives at my house the old man has said it wasnt him driving

Ignore me

rider
Not that I would vouch for this tactic or condone this in any way as a nil point driver myself but I had someone working for me who needed his licence to keep his job. 9pts and another speeding notice. Returned the notice filled in but unsigned three times and didn't hear from them after that. If the form is unsigned, apparently, it cannot be processed. Dnk
I found this but it was 3 yrs ago http://www.justanswer.co.uk/law/7u9oq-caught-speeding-41-mph-30-mph-zone-lower.html
peter richards
funny it always seems to be 41 mph for the lower bracket , i think i read somewhere yesterday its 10% +
Hitbox Junkie
I'd take the day off work spend the day there. Keep the clean licence so if for.some.reason it happens again you can then take the point's. As if it's 6 points and you get done again fo 6 points then it's bye bye licence. I hope it's not 6 point's. Personally I would argue you were with the flow of traffic and avoided the van and had to speed up. Princess Ann got away with it. Annabella
If you do go ahead with receiving the points etc and get a fine, send a cheque for more, (assuming you can pay by cheque) so if £100 send a cheque for £101, they can't cash it and send a cheque back for £1, don't cash it, it's a flaw in parking ticket fines I believe. Urban legend I'm not sure. Ask someone legal...

nolizma
Hope its not too bad. If you get an option for a course do it. You can book your course yourself (from a selection) and there are also courses later in the evening. I had to do it a couple of years ago and went after work. Not sure if its still the same.
