Stock SMIC and Intercooler pipes

Big Supes

Recommended Posts

My intercooler looked perfect till the fins were touched, they then turned to powder. There probably aren't any good original fit SMIC's in existence due to the ago of them now. Why not go for a Whifbitz or CW SMIC, you cant really tell them apart from the stock unit from the front view of the car.

That's pretty much done its day really, it will have lost a lot of its cooling ability even though it still holds pressure

Ive got a stock SMIC from my 55k mile jspec, took it off over a year ago, I'll find some photos and post them up if anyone is interested.

I have a stock side mount intercooler off my 48k miles car. All pipe work as well minus the one that goes over the airbox and through the wing as I've retained these. All very good condition

Please post pics up of both of these. I will have second chance on both of these please if big sups is already sorted.

Afraid they may look in good condition but very possibly aren't simply due to age, my OE smic looked fine till you

touched the fins which simply crumbled to dust

True did you buy a new oem one or an aftermarket Smic? I have a whiffbitz Smic but have yet to fit it on one of my cars I really would prefer an oem Smic but they are a fortune new.

Why was it over kill

Totally no need for it unless your going upwards of 500 hp. BPU is a max of 450 hp

Also in the side vent the smic is not in the way of the radiator and is already ducted to get

a good airflow through it.

Most big front mounts aren't ducted and the cooling air will take the path of least resistance around it thus

making it less efficient than it should be.

They also don't aid engine cooling as they're slap bang in front of the radiator

Taken from Whifbitz website

Recently updated our Whifbitz Supra intercooler is even better than it was before. Now featuring a highly efficient bar and plate design along with high flow cast rounded end tanks, this intercooler is a great upgrade over the standard Toyota unit.

This is a direct replacement for the standard unit with a 2 row 50mm bar and plate high flow core, capable of flowing enough to support 500bhp. The Whifbitz SMIC can be used for standard cars or anything up to small single turbo applications and the intercooler retains the Toyota ducting to insure all of the air is forced directly into the intercooler.

We are seeing so many of the standard units with age, litterally falling apart because of old age. This is causing them to not work correctly reducing your engine power and the potential performance from your car.
