MattP
I'm trying to diagnose a oil leak and suspect the cam oil seals are weeping does anybody have a guide on how to remove the VVTI pulley as the repair manuals on here don't have any info nor does Autodata for the VVTI engine. Parry_10
You need to take the cam cover off. Then take the cap off on the front of pulley to get to the actual pulley bolt (both allen key heads. Get a spanner on the cam then undo the pulley bolt. The whole pulley will come off. Obviously loosen the cambelt tensioner and slip the belt off first. Edited March 4, 2017 by Parry_10 (see edit history)
MattP
Actually looking at that video is it worth replacing the internal VVTI cam o rings as well?
Parry_10
Actually looking at that video is it worth replacing the internal VVTI cam o rings as well? Not unless they are leaking. Im sure i read somewhere they arnt available from toyota so you would need to source elsewhere. Just leave the pulley alone dont take it apart
