I think it's a combination of insurance cost and younger people not having to learn to fix cars; I only got into cars because my Dad has always owned rovers and I grew up helping him put British bikes back together. Hardly any of my friends have any idea of what goes on under the bonnet of a car, those that could afford a Supra (and labour time) are more interested in getting a 330d on finance.

For reference, I'm 28

That's true. I know very few people who could even change a tyre!

There is a significant throw away car culture today.

I think that Facebook and other social media killed many of the car forums, it used to be if you wanted to show off your car & whatever mods you'd done or see what meets or cruises were happening or ask advice then your local forum and owners club were the places to do all that. Nowadays if you're organising a show or meet you reach far more people through facebook than by posting on forums.

Compared to the old days, this place feels much quieter. Lots of the more experienced members moved to other marque's, but we still kept a good number. I don't get on here much these days, and post even less but I do try helping out the younger/newer members when it comes to the tech stuff.

There also doesn't seem to be the same air of club spirit as the once was, parts used to change hands all the time and you'd struggle to get the guy to accept postage costs! Now it seems pot luck as to whether you'd get the part at all, even after you bought it! Still a wealth of knowledge on here about almost every subject though, and it's always nice to have a catch up with everyone at shows etc.....which in itself is much less than it used to be. I remember the days of 80-100 supras in convoy heading down the M4 to Japfest! Awesome sight!

Things change as more money comes into it more. Availability is lower, competition has crept in to parts accumulation, even car buying, so the slight underhanded tactic or downright blag/con is more likely to happen. 99% still good guys and girls on here though imo.

The best forum by far for activity, though not for a usual daily driver is the MG Experience forum in the USA which is buzzing. For proper daily drivers though the Audi forum is good. The best technical backup forum I've ever come across is a Land Rover S2 forum.

Different forums are better at and for different things. This Supra forum is probably the best there is for parts sales.

EP91 Starlet SR as a Daily and find UKSO forum just as good, busy & useful as this one tbh.

Agree with that. I used to spend alot of time on the original uksc before it changed to ukso. It was great, always parts coming up for sale, plenty of people to help you out etc. Glad to hear it's still going strong.
