Dnk
Anyone work in precious metals on here I have 3 solid Silver pieces i'm looking to get valued I have done lots of research and found 2 of the 3 Silver smiths that made them but can't find anything that similar to give me an idea on value. As far as scrap value goes they are nearly 1300 grams in total so just over £500 but i want try to sell them rather than scrap them The makers hall marks are James Dixon & sons, the second is Lee & Wigfull i think, the 3rd has H & A on it which i can't find any info

RichTrdAlsop
H&A hallmark would be Horton & Allday, Birmingham 1910 hallmark. Interested to see what theyre valued at, my parents have a few silver bits that have been passed down through the family.

I found Horton & Allday but the hall mark on that piece is the crown for Sheffield I just found some more info on them and they were also in Sheffield, Chester & London Strange why i didn't find that before

Dnk
Bonhams put an estimate of between £600 - £800 for the 3 pieces and then out of that the sellers cost is 20% If they made £600 then that's just below the scrap value which is £491.34 at todays silver price
Dnk
Interesting to see silver price history
MattP
so whats your take on that DNK are you going to keep them/scrap them/auction them?
Scooter
some say precious metals are going to rocket, all this quantitative easing and devaluing of currencies etc etc, also silver has a strong industrial usage/demand compared to say gold that sits there looking pretty. I'm not sure either way but unless you need the money (I'm guessing not!) then there seems little point in selling anything now really!? Almost criminal pieces like that are worth barely more than scrap. 20% sellers cost looks like a rip off too!! I wonder what the buyers commission is! Dnk
so whats your take on that DNK are you going to keep them/scrap them/auction them? Its a shame to scrap them but that's probably what will happen, the auction house weren't very positive about them which i expected as people don't have this stuff on show anymore these days. I think for now we'll wait and see where the price goes but to be honest if it rose 10% that's only £50 on the amount we have.
