400BHP
Hi guys, this is a subject I know a little about, not a lot but a little, its not illegal to own or operate a RADAR detector as the signals they recieve are not interpreted merely indicated by type of RADAR band and strength. LASER diffusers are also not illegal but you could be charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice and obstructing the police in the course of their duty. tut tut! RADAR can be jammed by use of a MAGNETRON, these are found in your domestic microwave and emit microwave radiation, much the same way as a GATSO operates. I have had this confirmed by a person I know that works for Raytheon engineering, this comany make RADAR devices for the military, so its safe to say he knows his stuff, unless of course he is the janitor and is not telling me the truth! I am yet to discover how you can employ your microwave to defeat GATSO's without microwaving your brain, but if and when I do I will divulge it for testing purposes. Thorin
Originally posted by Adam W Gavin is correct - one of the rarer laser guns also has a "jammer detector". However, at least one (maybe more) of the laser jammers on the market is one step ahead of the feature and won't trigger it. I still say you are confusing this with VG2. While it may be possible to detect laser jammers I do not know of any devices with this capability and certainly not any currently in use by UK police forces. Transmission of radar signals (i.e. radar jammer) are illegal unless you hold the appropriate licence and i doubt very much that you'd get a licence to transmit on the same frequency as the police radar guns for obvious reasons. Use of microwave signals in a microwave oven is a totally different subject as it is a closed shielded environment. I also have my doubts as to whether the microwave signals are on the same frequency as a radar gun. A magnetron is just a device used for generating high power microwave signals, like that used in radar systems.

If you go to the ukspeedtraps site i think you will find most of the laser guns have a jamming light on them but the top end jammers defeat this and put up an error code , best off with no front plate i say . John:flame Dev Ok I went to look at the ukspeedtraps website, and I quote from that. "Radar Detectors - Don't rely on all of these, well not all of them. The better ones such as the Bel 990 and Valentine One can give you a good warning on Gatso's The way a detector works is it picks up a radar signal that might bounce off another car close to you. Automatic Doors, Traffic lights and Temporary Traffic lights also set off these units along with other innocent devices. If the police target you first, you're caught, because then you have no advance warning to slow down. If you're going to get one, make sure it has VG-2 detector detection. A VG-2 radar can sense if the targeted vehicle is using a radar detector, and police love to pick on people with one! " I stand by my statements
dude
But that says that the police can detect people with the jammers which you said they cant but then proved they can .... i think John:flame Dev

Have a look at this entertaining microwave page: http://margo.student.utwente.nl/el/microwave/ Amongst other stuff like microwaving lightbulbs and soap, there's a story about the Yugoslavian army setting up radar decoys by running microwave ovens in open air with the door wedged open. The pilots above couldn't tell the difference between that and an air-defense radar James.

Not laser and not jammers.
