jazz1
On the 15th January 2016, I had decided to send my V160 gearbox to America for a full stage 3 overhaul, I had arranged collection via a good friend who runs his own courier company. The gearbox was picked up from SRD and on route to America. A brand new gearbox was off the list as they discontinued, but Jacks were known to refurb them better than brand new. . https://www.jackstransmissions.com/collections/supra-v160-rebuild-options Pictures, you can see how the previous body shop had covered the gearbox with primer. Oil was drained as they will not allow import shipment with internal oil. Edited July 17, 2017 by jazz1 (see edit history)

jazz1
On the 9th March 2016 Lee sent me pictures of the engine stripped. You can see due to the car being parked majority of its life, the engine seemed clogged. This explained why I had compression issues, although the car use to run fine otherwise. April 2016 decided to add an 1.2mm HKS gasket, previously had OEM. Edited July 17, 2017 by jazz1 (see edit history)

jazz1
Out of curosity , why not sent it to Arnout in SupraSport , he has done some stunnning work on the Billet gearbox parts Did Luc not have whining after they built his? I saw the process build from Jacks and was impressed, I think he had two synchro issue which they resolved, part of the stage 3 does not include brand new synchro. I payed extra for new synchro's, maybe he had kept the old synchro during the process.....keep track once I post the pictures you will see their process is highly satisfying. jazz1
On the 24th January 2016 Jacks transmission received my gearbox. On the 2nd March 2016 I was provided with a new update system they have in place. My Shop Assistant, a complete summary of my gearbox and tear down procedure. Jacks Shop Assistant: Dear Sir, "I was told that you would like a lot of pictures from your Unit for your build thread. This pics dont show an carnage or damage. Your unit was a very nice example of a used unit. If there is anything you see that have questions about please feel free to ask. If the images give you any trouble downloading for your use we can try and send them another way. You should expect a detailed inspection email soon." Thank you Service guy! jazz1
On the 3rd March 2016 jacks sent me a complete break down list. In general my gearbox was great condition. Considering the gearbox was apart, I decided to replace the optional extra not included in the stage 3. I replaced the Synchro's with brand new ones and any other parts recommended to change, that were not included in the stage 3 payment list. Dear Sir, The current status of your job (V160 Stg 3 E4557) is as follows. Hello, Your unit has been inspected and it was found to be damaged above and beyond what is covered in the build you selected. Here is a list of what is also needed: 1. 3rd gear has mild damage to the engagement teeth. For best shifting quality it should be replaced but is very usable in current condition. 2. 4th gear has light damage on the engagement teeth. It is very usable but for best shifting quality should be replaced. 3. 5th gear Input shaft bearing is worn and would be best if replaced. Only new available. This is a breakdown of the inspection pics and should go in order with the pictures provided under the Inspection group 1. Trans mount is broken at the rubber section. 2. 1st gear is in great condition. This gear usually dosen't get damaged to much. 3. 2nd gear is in great condition. This gear normally is heavily damaged on the engagement teeth and your is beautiful. 4. 3rd gear is usable/ There is mild damage to the engagement teeth. This looks to be the gear that catches most the hard shifts. 5. 4th gear is very usable/ There is slight damage to the engagement teeth. 6. 5th gear input shaft looks good/ The bearing has wear on it (replace). 7. 5th Fixed in good condition 8. 6th Floating is in good condition 9. 6th Fixed is in good condition 10. Reverse gear is in good condition 11. Counter shaft is in good condition 12. 1st gear synchro Decent Condition/ Friction surfaces worn 13. 2nd gear synchro Decent Condition/ Friction surfaces worn 14. 3rd gear synchro Decent Condition/ Friction surfaces worn 15. 4th gear synchro Decent Condition/ Friction surfaces worn 16. 5th & 6th synchro are worn. 17. jazz1
In the meantime on the 28th April 2016, I had asked Simon to work his magic for a tow eye hook I provided for my do luck front bumper. This would have also been ideal for my interchangeable front (Ridox), as the last problem I wanted was to un-screw a bumper during an break down! Superb work Simon provided the front plastic trim cover. Then the tow eye bracket was screwed into the chassis leg . Tow eye complete with cover, just need to spray the cover .
