Ian C Posted September 22, 2005 Share Posted September 22, 2005 My relearning sequence is: Start car. Allow it 10 seconds to work out it's not a lawnmower or an F1 car. Blip it to 2000rpm ish and listen to it struggle to catch the idle. Let it settle and repeat, note it catches the idle better. Again, let it settle and repeat. That's about it as far as I'm concerned, drive as normal. My car's dillusional and thinks it is an F1 car, although saying that yesterday it decided it was a vase of flowers and wouldn't start. It's also a bit retarded as it takes it few mins to learn that just because I let off the accelarator, that is not a cue to suddenly go back to sleep again Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
JohnA Posted September 23, 2005 Share Posted September 23, 2005 I've reset the ECU several times lately, doing power runs before/after. What I've found is that you also need to turn the ignition off a couple of times as well as going through the revs with some load. Yesterday for example I took it for a few tests, and I had forgotten that I had reset the ECU the night before. After driving around for 30 miles of mixed abuse, the performance was definately below par. Then I remembered about the ECU reset, doh! Turned it off a couple of times on the side of the road, and hey presto, it loaded the amended maps.... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
