When you increase boost levels.....

...does the ECU have any effect in trying to reduce boost again? What I'm trying to find out is, does the ECU 'learn' how you drive and then compensate fuel mixture in turn having any effect at all on boost levels?

I recently got a bleed valve fitted by C Wilson who did a fine job last week (along with FCD and boost gauge, and Hyper) and initally it was set to 1.2bar. Now after driving for a week the boost level has dropped to 1bar. I've turned the boost back upto 1.1 bar which it is still there after my last drive.

I know its not a hot weather thing because it was similar temp before and after.

Is this the nature of boost controllers? Do you have to play around with them from time to time to keep boost levels similar from drive to drive?

P.s. The Supra is a completely new monster when boost is increased, together with the Hyper, my car is on a constant mission to head butt the horizon.

:p

you may find that raising boost to high in warm weather like this is retarding the ignition each times the engine sense knock (detonation)

Are you using Super Unleaded and what other mods do you have to reduce air charge temperatures?

This is the only thing I can think of that will reduce your power when everything else is left the same.

You can prove this by removing the EFI fuses for 30s and replacing. This should remove the ignition settings for knock detect and start a fresh.

But if you notice the power drop off over time again then the engine's telling you it needsso help.

Thanks for the reply.

my mods are as follows:

Hyper

Full de-cat

bleed valve

FCD

boost gauge

alloys

bodykit

(Optimax)

It may well be that warm air is the cause, past few days have been 4-5 degrees warmer than start of week. Is that enough to lower boost by 0.2bar?

When FCD is active is there a clicking sound that can be heard?

If so, is it wise to increase boost again when clicking sound can be heard on full throttle?

Applogies if questions are dumb ones, I'm not too knowleged about boost mods.

Well hotter air is less dense so it's harder work for the turbo to compress this less dense air to make the same mixture as before.

The trouble with bleed valves is just as you've experienced. You have no automatic control over boost.

You get what you get dependant on the temperature and height above sea level you are.

Not sure what this clicking sound is?

If you go out on a colder day (like yesterday or maybe today) is it improved? i.e. higher boost?

You sould maybe read the thread discussing this.
