evinX
Drop the rear of the roof liner revealing 4 nuts...2 on each side...unplug the connector behind the passenger rear side window trim and disconnect the boot struts
marbleapple
Can I ask where he managed to get a replacement from? I need one too. Garage is worried that if they try take the glass out of the current one to repair the rust it will beak. Would prefer to get a new lid and start afresh

Try a different garage? I had a little rust bubble on mine. Used Autodoc on here (I understand he's no where near you). The question of breaking the glass never even came up. Buying a second hand one might not buy you much time at all. If yours is salvageable get it done. New rear seal is £50-ish, plus paint/labour. Dread to think how much a new one would be if you found it. I'd prefer my freshly painted one over the other 2 options any day.

He's recommended a new seal (£80 from Keron) but just flagged that there is a real risk that the rust bubble will have put pressure on the glass and that there is a chance that if the pressure is removed then the glass could crack. Bought a 2nd hand boot lid and had the glass removed to make sure all good under the seal (a customer did it as a favour) as long as they know what they are doing its straight forward! Re-sprayed in and out in 202 black (the underside has been lacquered with satin lacquer to give a more oem finish)& new genuine seal off Keron. Wiring straight forwards too. We refitted the boot lid without the glass and wiper motor etc. (its lighter then) then bonded the glass back. New oem badges too! The hardest part was fitting the seal to the glass prior to fitting. My only advise is completely strip the lid of everything as I hate over spray!
Kendo11
Mine was twice as bad as that red one. Bodyshop sorting it this week. Any reputable one should able to sort it.
marbleapple
I'm told it's the removing the glass that could be the problem
Kendo11
Mine came out fine. Just a local reputable windscreen service and in with a new seal.
rider
When I had mine taken out 2 years ago AutoGlass wouldn't cover breakage as they said they no longer carried or had access to Supra rear screens. Everything went fine though. There was a blue tailgate with glass for sale on eBay recently so they do come up for sale now and again. If I had as much rusting as the Red one pictured I'd be shopping for a spare/replacement.
