Dnk
Flying into Malaga later in the year and wondered if there are any to avoid or do you have recommendations Seems to be a minefield when hiring a car these days, i was going to use Avis but their prices are way more than others i'm looking at https://www.malagaairportcarhire.com/ £296 for an auto clio, Avis's cheapest auto is a VW Golf at £896 for the same rental period
stevie_b
A looong time ago I used Holiday Autos - prices seem good, but haven't read the small print https://www.holidayautos.co.uk/car-hire/malaga.htm#/searchcars
Gaz6002
Top tip: try shopping using 'incognito' or 'in-private browsing'. It'll throw up search results that haven't been tracking your previous browsing, so the costs may well be lower. The same works for holiday and flight shopping. tooquicktostop
I work in Marbella 2/3 times a year and I have tried several options for car hire, the cheapest I have found are just outside the actual airport via a shuttle bus, this is slightly inconvenient if you are the kind of person who has to be "on holiday by the pool in mins" but does deliver a decent save, I managed to get a Corsa Auto for £75 for 4 days in October last year all booked here in UK and was a 15 min additional delay in getting the shuttle bus, the place I used is directly opposite the San Miguel Factory, if you know Malaga you will know its literally just outside the airport perimeter Do watch out for the additional extras especially around accident damage cover which they hit you with upon arrival if not careful

T2 MSW
Avoid Firefly, they are cheap yes but cheap for a reason. They will find any excuse to charge you extra they possible can. Last time i went to Marbs I stated I would be arriving at 12 AM, i got to the desk at 12:10 and guess what, I'm late so I have to pay an out of hours charge for the clark to stay and serve me. Imagine my surprise when I find their normal opening hours are till 2AM!! First time they tried to charge me for an empty tank even though I'm stood with the car pointing at the fuel gauge being 100% full. Complete joke of a company
Konrad
Did you try Atesa? and yeah, avoid Firefly, Goldcar and Record rental
hamzahkhan
I agree with the above, the cheapest and typically friendliest are the shuttle to the car lot just outside the airport. I used malagacar and it was shockingly cheap, got a new clio for 40 euro per day or cheaper?
Dnk
Thanks for the all the input guys. Think i'll be giving Rentacarspain a try.
Dnk
Did you try Atesa? and yeah, avoid Firefly, Goldcar and Record rental They are more than Avis, £1152
Konrad
They are more than Avis, £1152 Wow, I was lucky then or simply it was time of a year (March) - it was dirty cheap back then. malagacar is also regarded to be decent company. Dnk
Not getting any replies from the rentacarspain place, i've tried the whatsapp live chat they have and nothing
Dnk
I texted them and got a reply, they do a fully insured zero excess option but that's £150 more but still better than most others i've looked at and theres you still have to get the excess cover here or take a big chance nothing happens I can get extra cover from https://www.questor-insurance.co.uk/ for £44 so will go that route and save over £100 So £250 all in for 14 days in an auto Focus looks a very good deal Their comms aren't very good though and still trying to get an answer on the collection and drop off
Dnk
I've booked the car with them now and paid in advance so saved a bit more £231 all in with the Questor back up insurance
johnny g
As above - avoid Firefly and DoYouSpain Hidden charges galore!
Dnk
Had some problems with Rentacarspain, only bad coms but that's not good enough, they don't answer my emails and no response to whatsapp messages, luckily i actually hadn't paid them as i thought so i've cancelled the booking with them and now booked up with Malagacar.com Thanks for all the heads up, it really is rather hit or miss with how these companies operate, fingers crossed the new comp is better Also if you go through moneysupermarket you can get a discount on the car excess insurance cover, i've got 12 months for £

Dnk
Hello I am new over here and well I went to this website and didn't found any car appropiate for my wedding. Some more reccomendations? I am not looking for an Opel Corsa. It is in malaga. I ended up with Avis in the end and was very happy with the service and virtually new car i got. They have an office in the airport. If you use them join up as a prefered customer, its free and makes life much easier
