Frank Bullitt
Managed to get it all apart today. Not sure how I managed to do this, but the LSD is snapped in half, also when I drained the oil, it wasn't 1.8+ litres so i'm presumming I was running low. Everything else looks fine, so I'm hoping all I need is just a new LSD and I'm back on the road! Wow that is impressive, never seen that before. How are the teeth on the Ring & Pinion? Are you going to pull it all apart and inspect everything throughly?
Gpro
Wow that is impressive, never seen that before. How are the teeth on the Ring & Pinion? Are you going to pull it all apart and inspect everything throughly? I have briefly checked all the parts. Ring & Pinion are mint. Not a single scratch on them. Everything else looks fine too apart from a snapped shim and obviously the LSD. I'm going to get my mechanic to come round and double check everything first to make sure before buying a new LSD. I'm presumming sourcing a stock torsen LSD won't be easy? will I have to get the Os Giken now....
Frank Bullitt
Every cloud has a sliver lining I guess, although this one is quite expensive. As you have the thing apart anyway it wouldn't be too much more work to strip the remaining parts to make sure nothing has been bent in the explosion of the LSD. Whilst at it you could replace the tapered bearing and washer plate for the pinion, it all adds to piece of mind. As the old adage goes penny wise and pound foolish
Gpro
Sourced and purchased an LSD from Canada, comes with brand new pinion bearings and a spacer, should be here late next week. Going to get 5 litres of brake cleaner and start cleaning everything before the LSD arrives. Hopefully, it will be an easy install without any further issues.
