Shane
Maybe it was a compromise on the prices and terms. Well I read earlier that Sky's Stephen Van Rooyen has said that Discovery accepted the same deal more or less that was on offer previously, but Discovery saying the new deal was "meaningfully better than our former agreement and their proposal". Who knows but at least its sorted. Maybe Sky wont pay so much for football and Disco wont pay so much for Olympics in the future, however most likely Sky will just push up the price a bit and still pay silly amounts out to keep the sport subscribers happy. Cant blame them though I guess, they are there to make a profit and its the football that draws in the paying viewers.
Mk4Gaz
Yes but how about the other features like PVR, catchup, boxed sets? Openbox? I watch all my box sets on kodi bud, via an android box, and 123 movies that's built into my decoder. Catchup can also be watched via kodi, or my smart tv has bbc iplayer, etc. I also have Netflix, which my kids use in their bedrooms, streaming
Guest Budz86
The Kodi boxes are awesome you be fair, had mine a few weeks and have been seriously thinking of ditching the 70 odd quid sky package in favour of those and just upping the broadband to 70meg
johnny g
I had a bit of a result on this last night. Posted on Facebook that if you phone up and threaten to leave for Virgin Media, Sky will give you 12 months free subscription to stay. Turns out a load of my mates phoned up and kicked off, they got the same as me. Nothing.

I know people say its great quality etc and its good especially for free, but on a large screen oled its no comparison imo. I do though have a kodi set up at my place in Romania and its great for that sort of use. There I can't see Astra so getting sky via a dish is a non starter so Kodi works well for me there and is a good solution the quality is ok as its a first gen Plasma there anyhow. I used to use Slingbox out there but Kodi is so much better. I also have a red360 box that is excellent, they cost a bit more, but the UI on that is great compared to Kodi, pretty sure its all the same streams, but wrapped up in a nice package. At work we use ATN IPTV boxes too and they are good but aimed at the Arabic market mainly and I think about £150 a year. Kodi loads up and works well on the firestick too. Ric
I've just gone to Sky Q It's fantastic, multiroom over network/wireless plus all the recording etc and excellent interface. I personally hate Kodi piracy boxes, Kodi it'self is a great platform for watching back films you own that you've backed up etc but piracy is killing the development of it. Mk4Gaz
I use a zgemma box for my normal 'sky' viewing. I've installed the sky Q skin, and can series link, record two channels at the same time, and have access to all the channels, with a full function remote. I use kodi solely for movies and tv series

Hitbox Junkie
Of sky was resonable price same as the cinema then you wouldn't have so much illegal steaming. To take the family out to see a film at the pictures your looking at £35 (2adults 2 kids) that doesn't even include drinks and pop corn..... Sky charge 70+ a month And people wonder why people will take a slightly less in quality picture and stream videos or box sets. - - - Updated - - - Of sky was resonable price same as the cinema then you wouldn't have so much illegal steaming. Surely you're just highlighting how good the value for money is with sky there? You're comparing a 2 hour trip to the cinema to watch one film, to hundreds of channels, all day, every day. Saying that, I'm no longer with sky. I used them for years, and always had an expensive deal. But I have up on them when they started a tactic of showing a few films in a series on the movie channels, but regularly showing the remaining one/s on the pay per view channels. Like £110 per month wasn't enough.
