super low miles timing belt replacement yay or nay?

Well my cam seals seem to be leaking pretty bad, at least it seems like its coming from that area and slowly going down the engine. I assume from the motor not running and not staying lubed by normal operation. The car was owned by a local that never drove it.

So I'm pretty mechanically inclined but i do not have the means to fix this myself unfortunately.

With me being here in Japan the only place i can trust is the Toyota dealership so it will be a bit pricey (which I'm fine with)

question..... would it prob be a good idea to have the timing belt and tensioner replaced at the same time even though i only have 32k? also keeping in mind the belt is possibly oil soaked.. but then again the belt is 24 years old...

As Dunk says, I'd look at it all, not just because the fact its low mileage but mainly because of the age. Wouldn't be surprised that the crank pulley is in good condition, but it may well be seized with age. Belts should deffo be replaced, timing and aux. Better safe than sorry :)

Ok hold on a minute, you say the belt might possibly be soaked, but then also that the cam seals are leaking?

If you can see the cam seals leaking you can see/inspect the belt no? Do you mean the cam cover seals?

Have you taken off the green central plastic cover held on with 10 Allen head bolts?
