Alternator to fuse box cable gauge?

Afternoon chaps, just wondering what gauge cable people use when replacing the above?

Mine is a bit manky and corroded, which probably accounts for the dash lights flashing at high boost. It's an upgraded Mechman alternator that outputs 170 amps or there abouts, less than 2 years old so hope it's not that. Battery is brand new, belt is only a couple of years old. Tensioner looks OK too.

The original twin cable looks like a pair of -8 to me, but when replacing I guess I can just run one large one? I do want to increase the overall thickness too though, so maybe a pair of -6 or something would work better. Thoughts?

Will probably replace the battery earth too while I'm there (again with a thicker cable) to improve things in general. Car made 800 at the hubs so doubt standard sized cable will cut it anywhere on this as I run twin fans, twin fuel pumps, toucan etc.

Thanks in advance!
