ls400 brake caliper upgrade help, rebuilding kits?

hi guys, just bought myself some ls400 front brake calipers for my mkiv

I was told I'd need longer bolts through the hubs to hold them on? the 12x1.25 thread pitch

anyway, reason I'm here, I have found that 3/4 pistons on one caliper has split torn boots and stuck pistons :( the other side is perfect however

I need a rebuild kit, I think I can get away with reusing the pistons. is ebay the only place? ideally I'd like a rebuild kit that I won't have to redo again in a year because of cheap rubber boots etc

Hi Jonny

The brakes are not that hard to refurb yourself once you have a rebuild kit and know what you're doing.

You can probably refurbish the pistons like I did using gradual wet and dry paper, plenty of brake cleaner and a lot of patience. As long as the outer edges and rim of the piston is smooth and not badly pitted then they'll be fine to reuse with fresh boots and piston seals. Here's a set of Lexus ones I did:

And some useful refurb guides too mate.

I got my refurb kit of Chris Wilson and it's excellent. Get some stainless steel retaining pins too, makes life a lot easier when changing pads and removing calipers in future.

Good link posted by Nic there and reasonable prices too. :)
