LS400 Rear brakes fit a Supra?

Hi all,

 

I've recently fitted LS400 front brakes to my Supra, i also have the rear brakes available. Has anyone fitted the Rear brakes to a Supra yet? If so, what parts did you need / make any adjustments?

 

If this possible i'll create a definitive guide thread for everyone as i can't find a full answer from searching.

As far as I know you can't do a straight swap but I'm sure there will be a way. Money makes anything possible so might not be a viable route to follow. :)

 

Yes i would just like to have some clarity, it'll help others in future too if it can be posted here! I don't mind a little bit of work to get something to fit :D

If we are talking about the UCF20 brakes, I'm not sure if they fit, and even if they do, they are not an upgrade.

 

yeah i know they wouldn't be an upgrade, its mainly the fact they are aluminium and not cast Iron is why i want to swap them out. I found a thread on here where one guy had them fitted but he didn't elaborate on it.

 

Surely someone else has it done?

Interesting, I didn't know that they are alloy.

 

Its the main reason i want to swap them really. I swapped the front ones out as i had a seized caliper, even with poor pads its a noticeable difference

Just thought i would update everyone here so anyone else searching can have an answer, I managed to get the LS400 UCF20 rear brakes to fit.

 

I had to use the original Supra J spec NA rear caliper brackets that bolt to the hub and then use the aluminium LS400 rear caliper section that carries the piston. There is a noticeable weight difference between the two, with the LS400 caliper body being larger and the piston also looks bigger. I reused the original Supra brake line, everything bolts straight on.

 

Reason i swapped them out was I had noticed one of my rear Supra calipers was sticking and the other one didn't work at all it was so badly seized. Also, the LS400 brake pads seemed to fit just fine too, whether they are the same part number or not i don't know.

 

Anyways, now we all have a definite tried and tested answer.

Certainly look it in the photos i took when i stripped a set around 5 years ago

 

I know the fronts are cast aluminium on the inner half and cast steel on the outer which is clear to see

Happy to give back to the community, a lot of threads on here don't get updated when someone finds a solution to something.

I couldn't tell you as i've never seen the turbo brakes up close but you are right there, those rear calipers look like aluminum. I guess the LS400 calipers just offer a cost effective upgrade to anyone that wants to have better, non seizing calipers on their NA. They cost me about €180 all in, i don't on doing any sort of track days with this car so there was no need to go crazy on big brake i'll never get the use out of.
