Not entirely out of context. I enquired and asked if you could hold on for a few hours that evening whilst I checked all my control arms for play. I'm sure you said OK and then 3 hours later I come back in and it's sold. Long standing member here too, one that likes dealing with other genuine members who trust each other and occassionally help others out with a little time/flexibility rather than a quick payment. Just my 2 pence mind.

Wow your bitter. I don't think I said OK ill hold them I said OK to you going to check them. Sorry if you did not get the outcome you wanted but I had well in excess of 100 PMs that day so excuse me if I was just trying to stay afloat and make sure everyone was happy.

Do your own breaking thread and see how much hard work it is!

Not bitter, just a little confused. It's cool. We'll agree to disagree and leave it there Mike :)

Pretty poor to see this type of thing spilling onto the forum - I haven't really observed much of this in the past.

Unfortunately, there is nothing we as mods can do about this.

Do you mean raising prices after someone has offered to buy?

I did apologise and realised it wasn't a gentlemanly thing to do but with a baby on the way and new house that I've just paid out for I can't afford to loose out on the money

There's an unspoken rule about raising prices once you've received interest at the advertised price. You've apologised, and I'm sure no one will hold grudge, as we all handle things badly sometimes.

But I would be very reluctant to do it again. If I see people doing that I avoid buying anything from them, and I know quite a few others who are the same. :)

If in doubt, start a 'what's it worth' thread. You'd have received valuations within minutes, and probably had offers on it too.

The only lesson from this is you should do some research before posting items for sale. We see it all the time with people not bothering with that and there has even been postings for bits that wont fit jspec or uk spec cars that I've picked up on. A gentleman's word should be the bond though, so when a commitment to pay is made then that should seal the deal done unless the parts turns out to be a crock of crap or the buyer doesn't pay in an agreed time. Other than that, maybe the forum could open up an auctions section for those who don't have a clue what things are worth, where they can list their parts. The sales section is going to get even more like a feeding frenzy as time goes by with Toyota discontinued parts availability drying up in the supply chain so we can probably expect a lot more unruly overbidding to occur.

Instead of unwritten rules maybe they need updating with some written ones. I've seen the other side of the sales where I've been first in then a mate comes along and gets first dibs. So the OP isn't the only one to ever go back on a deal but I'm not about to bitch and whine over it. In an ideal World agreements and commitment to pay should do it and in almost all cases does. I think the car dismantlers do us all a great service and the ones I bought off have been 100% genuine. As I'm confident the OP will manage to be from here on in.

In all fairness he only said he would take it after I'd sent him a number of the ecu it's self so it wasn't sold in till gave him that number

what a crock of Bolox, we agreed the deal, you said the words 'it's yours' and I was typing a PM saying send us your PayPal details and I'll fire over a deposit so you know I'm serious.

Like me someone wake as said I look out for things like this and will not have anything to do with you again

Yes that's what he means, there is no rule about changing the price to squeeze as much as you can out of an item you are selling it's just not polite thing to do. It's up to seller to make the moral call.

i was under the impression it's not the type of behaviour we accepted on this forum. Worst that txt speak, I'm not a bitter man but I will accept a several year ban :D

I see trouble ahead. Isn't that how the song goes? People are climbing all over sales threads these days. and the frenzy for decent parts is only going to get a lot worse. It could get nasty.

Ok, if you have the money to loose then on parts that good on you I don't, 1200 for this was still cheap and the buyer totally understood and many other people that on me did as well, I've sold man parts in here and all have been happy and if people haven't have had a full refund and still leave me good deed back

I couldn't apologise enough to everyone for my mistake and I think it's been taking a bit to far now, we all have lives now let's get on with them :-)

Hardly crime of the century, buyer lists and item and realises hes listed it too cheap for the going rate, so adjusts price a little to save doing himself out of pocket, mistakes happen

If your talking about club spirit, and it not being a polite thing to do, then why is nobody polite enough to tell the OP his item is too cheap and they sell for more money?

Of course you wont because then you arent getting any benefit from it

3rd and 5th posts ;)

Very good price should sell quick

I'd be surprised if it's still for sale tomorrow, that's a bargain :)

It definitely swings both ways, but then the OP specifically said:

Thank you mate these are really dear to buy now as they seem to have shot up in price but I thought a 1000 will help someone else get started with there build like I did mine so just passing on the good deed

Not sure what the debate is for though, the OP has already acknowledged what he did and apologised, case closed :)
