TT exhaust options

Hi all,

Just wondering what is the nicest sounding and also one of the louder exhausts for a tt supra? I know this is very subjective however i would like to hear opinions.

On my last supra i bought a hks ti 4inch exhaust because people said they were really loud and awesome. Running 330bhp i found it very quiet, misses na with a Nur spec was miles louder with original cats in.

Thanks all.

Youtube is your friend :)

Blitz Nur Spec is popular, nicer sounding than the equivalent HKS silent hi power. The newer HKS exhaust sounds great though. Boostlogic 4" sounds mental.

Thing is as we all know things sound very different in person. Also most are running singles and ill be twins for a while so want the best sounding exhaust for twins.

I've had the Nur Spec R, Whifbitz 4" TI and now currently the new HKS Racing muffler.

Out of all 3 I prefer the HKS, sounds lovely, fits spot on and the ground clearance is so much better then the other 2. Here's a link on YouTube on a stock TT. It does actually sound like this aswell with the turbo whistle.

Why not find yourself a local exhaust fabricator?

I went to one in Birmingham about 10 years ago now and all they ask when you turn up (booked in) is what do you want? Anything from F1 screamer to silent and everything in between. I asked for throaty and rumble over roar and rasp and I got a lot of throaty and rumble. The kind people say they can hear coming up the lanes from a mile away in a nice way. Very inexpensive too relative to a HKS or Blitz option which allowed me plenty of savings to head of with my good lady for a nice lunch while it was fabricated and fitted.

Does the level of boost running affect the noise/sound levels? As when i had a hks ti 4 inch i was running 0.8bar, auto and it was really quiet.

Would a full bpu tt6 be louder?

Might seem odd but only explanation i could think of.

From what I was told when I got a bespoke exhaust then number of baffles and packing material largely affect the noise level and then the size of the 'trumpet' at the end affects the tone with the larger the end pipe the deeper the tone. I'd expect the noise level to be defined by the volume of exhaust gasses flowing through the exhaust rather than how quickly the engine rpm and with it gas volume rises.

Where in bham Rider, need a system made for my Camaro

I used these guys and they are still going almost a decade later so must be doing something right as they do stainless exhausts which don't need changing very often. So you'd have to assume they get a fair amount of repeat business.

not the boost really but the cats or lack of will make a huge difference. Also if you do the ettc mod you can have a louder/quieter exhaust at the flick of a switch as long as you stay tt.

Do you think my hks 4inch ti was quiet because of the restrictor plate? I was running double decats.

No I very much doubt it as all of the exhausts I mentioned were never quiet, I've always had the restrictor ring in place with double decats.

Maybe you should look for the Boostlogic 4" system as that is the loudest I've personally heard on a TT. There was one for sale a few days ago, don't know if it has been sold.

Edit: Not sold here is the link http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?338784-4-quot-Boostlogic-Exhaust-Ti-Version-Super-rare!
