Rear Fog Light

Does anyone know the specific requirements for the rear fog light for the MOT?

Mines an import and the wiring on the rear fog light mod had gone a bit mank so looking to re do and wondered what the options were.

Current wiring is to the offside reverse light with a red bulb but from what I can tell the UK models used one of the stop/tail lights from either side as the fog lights?

Option A) use one of the reverse bulbs as you currently are.

Option B) Cut a nasty hole in the bumper and fit some hideous foglight.

Option C) Buy relays, resisters etc and follow this link http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?80479-Fog-Light-Conversions-for-beginners&highlight=foglight+wiring

Option D) Hecklar Foglight PCB. Cut one wire per light and install. http://www.internetwork.org.uk/fog/fogpcb.htm

My jspec has what I think is the neat option with the two of the four brake lights (inner pairing) are given over to fog lights. So no bumper holes required and retains two bulbs for all the other light functions.

That would be my preferred set up but wasn't too sure if that was the best way. Did you set that up yourself?

No, its was like that when I purchased it. I am the second owner following its import. You don't need any reversing lights for the MOT so you could use both as fog lights with red bulbs but I live miles down single tracks so the reversing lights are essential reversing aids when its dark so I am glad I still have two of those that I have fitted bright LEDS to. No one who didn't know a jspec has 4 brake lights would ever know it had 4 brake lights at one time.

I would just stick with the one converted light.

For the amount of times you will be using the supra in fog, vs the times you would use reversing visibility in the dark...

Anyways, in a fog scenario, if the car behind has managed to miss 4 x tail lights & a converted reverse light, you'd have to question if they are even looking at the road should they go into the back of you.. >

Honestly I can never get the point of fog lights anyway they rarely make a difference lol

It's only because they're necessary for the MOT and I'm a bit picky so I like everything to be as neat as possible so setting it up to stock install, although more of a pain, is much nicer in my mind than losing a reverse light.

I prefer this setup compared to disabling a reverse, nice clean setup, easy to wire in, cheap to do

Agreed with the above, I did this foglight mod on my old supra

This mod can be achieved much quicker, tidier and easier now using hecklers fog light PCBs [emoji106]

I used hecklers PCBs on my current Supra and I highly recommend them
