Anyone ever use a 10.5J wheel on the front?

I'm looking to buy some new Work wheels for my wide arched Supra very soon but want to run some specs by everyone first.

I've decided on 19" wheels, not ideal wise handling wise i know but it will be an NA auto for another while yet. I doubt the car will ever see the track as i have another track car for that.

I am thinking at least 9.5J on front and a 10.5/11J rear.

Has anyone ever used a 10.5J on the front with ok sized tyres? Its my idea that even with a 245 tyre they would tramline very bad or rub badly on full lock??

The car had 20's when i bought it but now has 18" Origin wheels borrowed from my s14, so overall comfort isn't an issue.

Thanks for any help!

I would not go more that 9.5J with 245 on the front, your going to get some tram lining on poor condition road what ever you do.

The rears how wide are the arches as you may need an 11J to fill them. I have a 11J in +8 offset on mine which sit perfectly with a 295 tyre on them.

We have Work Meister S1

18×9.5J ET37

18×11.5J ET49

265/35/18

315/30/18

Just rolled rear arches. In those specs they sit flush with the stock arches. Took me months to work out correct sizes to suit our needs.

Think the CCW's in supra fitment come with a 18×10.5J ET50/51 front which you can get a 285 tyre on.

I run 10.5j et44 at the front with 285 tyre and 11.5j et50 with 315 tyre at the rear but I have had the arches cut back a little

I don't have any issues with any rubbing at all, even on full lock. I have not really driven the car since the new wheels have gone on but does not seem as bad as what I thought for tram lining

That is code language for admitting that it does indeed increase tram-lining.

Lol no

I have drove it 20 miles around town to get a MOT and most of it was traffic so could not tell. No doubt it will be more then my last set but I can't inform him how bad it is

Thank you for your reticent acceptance of fact. :)

Never said it wouldn't increase now did I, he asked about having a 10.5j at the front, so I told him my set up. I just informed him that I haven't driven it enough to see how much increase the tram lining was..

even put I pic up so he can see how it looks

But I have found out one thing though, I can understand why people cant be bothered trying to help other people out

I often attempt to help other people out with these quandaries between Saxo urges and Supra realities and have empathy for your sentiment.

Work Zeast ST1's here

18x9.5 et 37 265 35 R18 Front

18x11.5 et 49 315 30 R18 Rear. Rear arches rolled.

Drives fine with no tramlining as a rule, with the exception of one section of poor quality country road that I need to take from time to time.

That's where the difference is; short of a deeply rutted Polish A road, stock front wheels and tyres at stock height will not tram-line.

The wider the front tyres the more tram-lining there will be, or........ the better it looks to perform for Saxo fans, the worse it actually performs.

The rear arches are about 80m wider, not sure on the brand. I've a 9.5 ET15 with a 35 mm spacer and they still don't fill them, there must be 1.5-2 degree camber however. Are yours standard arches? They must have a low offset to fit?

Think the CCW's in supra fitment come with a 18×10.5J ET50/51 front which you can get a 285 tyre on.

Thanks for that, I think the widest tyre id go on the front is a 255, there's no need for anything bigger really as its an NA. I've got 9.5J et15 on the front and it is barely flush with my wider arch

Thanks for your help and pics, are they wider front wings? I think my front wings are around 25mm wider, 9.5J et15 sits just about flush. 285 front tyre is huge!! You must have mega grip?

I want an aggressive wheel fitment to match my s14, but a not need the over the top stretched tyre. Wheels sunken into the wheel wells just look bad, a nice set of well fitted wheels make a car ;)

Yeah most Irish roads are poor quality, i don't mind a bit of tramlining, just not to be wrestling with the wheel.

I run 19 x 9.5J ET 30 on the front. I have to run a 5mm spacer to avoid contact with the brakes (due to low ET of the wheel design), and I have just over 2" wider front wing.

Yours must sit inside the wheel arch if they are that wide? My current fronts are 9.5 et15 with a wider arch (maybe 25) and sit just about flush

Well this is my theory also, the wider the tyre the more severe tram-lining will be, i certainly won't be running anything wider than a 255 on the front for now. Its just to decide whether 9.5 or 10.5 wide wheel. Not sure what you are referencing about Saxo's, i like a bit of function and form!

No worrys

I have stock wings mate with cut lips, its a nice tight fit but they get under there, I have been told that it may rub on the wheel arch bolts and might need some flusher fittings but they have not rubbed so far

Grip wise.. I have R888's all round so its a sticky tyre but i have not used the car to find out yet,

Yes, they do. But I have now extended the arch 2". Now they sit flush. I have a custom wide arch setup.

A 255 tyre is far better suited to fit on a 9.5" wide wheel

My fronts were 9.5 x 19 but i had a widebody kit on my car, on full lock the tyres just caught the wheel arch liner at the

front where the air vents are.

I run a 275 on my 9.5. I have this obsession against stretched tyres so pushed the width as hard as I could as I was unsure what I could get away with. I might have over done it!

275 is really the max on a 9.5 rim, your actually better off running the smaller size

in the wheels fitment range than going bigger

245 or 255

I understand that young Bucks style & stance bow locks, LED's and carbon sexual fibre etc. is a statement of personal selection displaying varieties of slammed on the biggest diameter and shiniest and widest deep-dish wheels that are shod with the lowest profile tyres affordable that may be stretched too and even running up to 1,000bhp.

For want of a better description, I refer to this form over function as "Saxoism".

We may have voted Brexit, but such Saxoism will inevitably encourage similar to European laws controlling such things to be introduced here in the U.K. and bugger it up for all of us. Even now, MOT stations local to me are failing cars that won't drive onto their ramp, the writing is already on the wall.

You may think that I'm a miserable Old Fart, but you definitely know that what I say will come to pass, please excuse me an occasional outbreak of sanity.

Thats some squeeze fitting 285's under the front! Looking forward to hearing what you they are like.

I run 10x18 with 265-35/18 tires on the front. A 10.5x18 with 265 or 275 should clear stock front arches.

SteveM runs 285 on a 10" rim front.

Does this setup tramline much? bad roads or good roads?

Yes, they do. But I have now extended the arch 2". Now they sit flush. I have a custom wide arch setup.

Thats a nice fit too, i don't think stretched tyres suit the Supra either.

I am swaying towards the 9.5 et15 for the front now, Its already what i have on there but in 18". There's only a 225 on there atm though. 10.5 will be a bit overkill with the NA.

haha i got a bit of a laugh out of that one! I understand what you mean though, each to their own and all that. I don't think Supras should be just for show and that scene doesn't really suit them anyways. Im not that interested in it either but there's nothing wrong with a nice set of well fitted wheels (read as not 10J's with a 225)

They've started failing cars here with stretched tyres in the NCT this year, this is why i don't want much of a stretch if any on the Supra. I think i am growing out of that phase but its a big thing in the Nissan S body scene.

Work wheels in a 9.5 and 10.5 wide? Ive got these for sale ;)

Those are really nice but i have my heart set on a brand new set, you should sell them pretty quick though!

I had 10.5 3 piece Nismos all round on R888's on my GTR and it tram lined like an absolute bitch. It was like this when I bought it and it was $#@!e.

This is the experience i was looking for thank you! Most of our roads here are not great and constant tramlining would be such a pain. I think you have made up my mind!

I'm currently on the hunt for new wheels, do you know if that sizing / offset would fit over k sports on the front ?

It all depends on the type of wheel face and the offset, generally the lower the offset the more clearance you will have but the wheel will poke out more.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, i think i have my mind made up. 19x9.5 et15 on the front with possibly a 245 or 255 35/19. 19x10.5 et12 on the rear with 275 or 285 35/19

I can work out the spacing afterwards but they will be already pretty close to what i'm looking for.
