icio471
Hi guys i have a Supra recently swapped from 2jz ge to 2jz-gte. Before the swap i remember fine that during winter heater worked perfectly. Today i checked with the mechanic which could be the problem and looking from the engine all works correctly. someone could give me an idea? i have noted also that with hot engine if i turn in max temperature , you can feel a few warm air but really few. SUggestions? thank you in advance:D

Mike2JZ
Anytime you change with the coolant system in one way or another, you should rebleed the system including the heater system. Jack the front of the car or park it on the hill so the radiator is higher than the rest of the coolant system. Turn the heater on to max heat/max speed and start filling the radiator with coolant. Massage some of the heater and radiator pipes to help move air to the radiator. Once the coolant system starts getting warm and bubbling by the radiator, put the rad cap back on. Switch between letting the car idle and holding the revs at 3000rpm for 30seconds at a time. Check that your temp gauge is reading correctly and not overheating. Check your lower and upper radiator hoses are hot. Then check your heater hose inlet/outlet pipes, both should also be warm. If these pipes are warm but you are not getting warm air then you may have put pipes on backwards, there is a block, there is still trapped air or you need to investigate the heater electronics
Chris Wilson
the only thing that i can think is that.... i have changed the radiator and i don't know... probably there is too much water insted coolant?? mmm.. The heater, if all else is correct will work just as well with plain water, water and antifreeze or tea in the radiator. Make sure the thermostat is a genuine Toyota one (I have never found patter thermostats work as well as OE ones) ans is is not stuck partly open. By the time you have gained access to the damned thing it would be madness not to renew it as a matter of course.
