Alex_GT
What do people recommend in terms of LSD units for the Supra? Not sure what is fitted in mine at the moment, but it is either open or a broken LSD unit.
Hitbox Junkie
Depends on budget and power goals. I'd probably say go big jspec or UK spec lsd
Mike2JZ
All the factory LSD's are torsen diffs. If you want something more aggressive then you will need to upgrade to a clutch type made by TRD, cusco, kaaz, os giken etc
Frank Bullitt
Aftermarket, either TRD (now discontinued iirc) or OS Giken. E2A The OEM should be a safe stop gap if you can find one and can't afford an aftermarket one straight off the bat. Alex_GT
The car is stock at the moment, do Toyota sell them anymore? I'm not looking for anything expensive, just something that is as good as the OEM.
Frank Bullitt
Turbo or NA? I'm guessing Turbo as you are worried about traction issues Future plans? Do you know what diff you currently have fitted? The code will be on the VIN plate and a photo would confirm. You have 2 casing sizes, small and large. The majority will say that you need the large case if you want to go single, but if you don't hammer it with hard launches and high torque a small case should survive. E2A It's not worth going OEM as it costs more than aftermarket for a lesser product. Waiting for someone a breaker, for someone to upgrade then buying their OEM LSD or upgrading yourself to an aftermarket jobbie is your only real sane option Pre-facelift (05/1993 - 04/1996) 41301-24040 is still available and costs over 2k Facelift 41301-14100 is still available and costs over £1600.00 Edited December 22, 2016 by Frank Bullitt (see edit history)
Alex_GT
It is a turbo car. I don't have anything planned apart from BPU perhaps. The VIN plate says A02A, but when I took it to Toyota they said it was an LSD unit that was fitted, but I think it is damaged.

Try to find an AO2B, that will be an LSD
Frank Bullitt
As above really, A02B is what you want. To be sure Toyota were right you only need to open it up. Left is open and right is LSD.
Alex_GT
Can you see inside without having to remove the case completely from the car?
Mike2JZ
Can you see inside without having to remove the case completely from the car? Nope. The diff is held on the rear onto the subframe by the case/cover. So you need to disconnect it from the subframe to do this, and at that stage the diff is practically out of the car. bignum
Standard lsd is a load of crap makes the car tail happy and not in good way. You be much better with TRD or any other plate diff.
