a98pmalcolm
Hey all. I have a creaking boot. Ive replaced the rubbers and its new shocks. I read on a thread of which i cant find now that the boot catch needs a adjusting when new rubbers go on. I had a look at my catch tonight and there is no adjustment at all. Just bolts directly onto the body. Can any one shed some light? Thanks
Ric
I've also thought my boot hatch needed some adjustment, i think it looks like it's open when it's closed. I think most of the adjustment is done on the latch which is attached to the car body (not the boot lid) however, the screws are countersunk so it just relocates to where it wants anyway. The manual does show adjustment though, so i didn't get it either. It seems like you need to swap to a none-centring bolt also. rider
If you replaced all the rubbers on the hatch then as Ric says start with the lock adjustment. I'm surprised that replacing the hatch rubbers didn't sort the creaking out though, did you replace both the side and lip rubbers?
mwilkinson
Good info. I had the same issue on mine, but when I went to adjust the boot lid latch I couldn't, due to the self centering nuts. My thought was that there must be an underlying cause, likely wear on the latch and mechanism itself. However on inspection the latch itself looked in very good order. a98pmalcolm
thanks for the replies guys. In regards to pic 3 of the info list "adjust door lock" Thatst he one I tried 1st but there was no movement able to be made as its a direct bolt onto the body. Yes I replaced the 2 lower rubbers and both upper plastics
Ric
no movement able to be made as its a direct bolt onto the body. Thats because you have to change the nuts to none centring from the manual excerpt above. Otherwise the lock will also just self-relocate.
