edd_t
Hey ppl, I noticed that I had alot of ppl passing me when ive been going the speed limit! so i got my gf to drive infront of me at 60mph last night. when i was sitting at 60mph there was a noticable difference in speed. i had to go at about 66 to keep up with her. So it looks like my speedo is out, is this something that is easy to fix? Also, my fuel warning light came on last night, how much reserve fuel does the supra hold, its about 8 miles to the closest garage with optimax! Cheers, Edd... Ian C
A J-spec Supra holds 70 litres of fuel. You should have about 12 to 15 litres left when the light comes on. -Ian

heckler
most speedo have a built in 10% margin, so you dont speed! mine is the same - but i dont use it as i have a gps speedo

tbourner
Since fitting bigger wheels mine is actually better!! So that's obviously the answer.
edd_t
the car has bigger wheels. i bought it with a set of 18"s on. the wall hight of the tyres are 40mm. so i guess that will have put the speedo out a bit...
tbourner
What tyres? 265/30 18?
Jake
If you change your speedo converter to a Thor Racing one you can adjust it by up to 10% and that will make the speedo read spot-on.
edd_t
ah thanks I'll check out Thor then. and cant quite remember the tyre sizes exactly, only looked at them a couple of times, only had car 2 weeks! im sure there something like 245/40/18 on front, and 265/40/18 on back. but i could be completly wrong! tbourner
Aah, 40% profile, I'd say they're too big then. But wouldn't that make the speedo read low?
edd_t
i got no idea think i best go get it checked out. i've never heard of the company that made the tyres anyway, so there probably some cheap crap put on by the dealer that will pop as soon as they get warm! Need4Speed
Peter Betts' TRL/Thor DSC unit can be fine tuned to fix speedo error... and it does all the other things if you need to sort a J-Spec. Top piece of kit.
