samdale
I've insured my car through Footman James. Asked for an agreed valuation of £17,000. Car is a pretty much standard 1999 RZ TT6. 60k miles. It's a fresh import and immaculate underneath. 17 is what I paid, 17 is what I'd like to protect. Imported via JM earlier this year. FJ have asked for an independent valuation as their snotty recorded delivery letter states "the valuation requested by you is not in line with current market guidelines". Well of course it's f****** not. That's why I am after AGREEING THE VALUE with you!!! JM has been helpful (and indeed has valued the car at more than I require) but cannot be considered independent "due to their involvement". How have others gone about this? Start emailing classifieds links with the subject title "Tell your valuers to get their heads out of the sand"? Seriously, what do we pay specialist car insurers for if not to be a little bit more understanding about our cars? Any help/advice much appreciated. Edited November 25, 2016 by samdale LANGUAGE! Gaz6002
You should be able to simply canvas the classifieds for similar cars and send a number of those over. Doesn't matter if they're already sold - in fact that's better.
samdale
You should be able to simply canvas the classifieds for similar cars and send a number of those over. Doesn't matter if they're already sold - in fact that's better. Indeed, I have started making a list. found a fair few higher priced and not as desirable as mine. The frustrating thing is I shouldn't have to. Surely the valuers at FJ can do (and indeed are paid to do) this? Meanwhile, in Sam's imaginary classic car insurance limited... "Blimey this guy reckons his supra is worth £17k, don't think they go for that much do they?! *checks classifieds* "Wow, lesson learned, maybe they do. Certainly can't find ANY low mileage, standard TT6's like this one for sale". "maybe they're just rare in the UK, I'll ask a couple of importers how much they go for as they buy and sell them every day" ... "OK seems £17k is a fair cop" "Dear Mr Dale, we are happy with the valuation you have provided and can now confirm an agreed valuation for the amount specified"

rider
When I did my agreed value submission to LV classics all I sent was a list of 4 advert links showing similar prices. I insured in May for £18k no issues at all and prices are still climbing so I recon I'll be pitching at £22k to £24k next May on my stock TT6. If you paid £17k and the cars are appreciating I'd personally look to add at least £4k on that for the agreed value as it'll run 12 months anyway. Always found FJ to be a waste of time myself, they never respond at all to email quote requests that I send.
JasonR24
I valued mine at £20k, mines around 70k km so around 40k miles. Wouldn't value it at any less and the insurance agreed straight away
X13mgr
Mines at 16 with AF. Facelift tt6 but I built it from a shell. So not original. To be honest need to go bit higher. Original or not don't think i could replace it with that amount now. May have to do a what's it worth thread and see what you boys think. JasonR24
Your car was originally an NA weren't it Jason? Mine is tt6 shell Yea that's right NA6 but due to how clean it is and how rare these cars are getting, you simply have to say to insurance how much it would cost to replicate the car exactly and in my case I have all the receipts
