The magical resetting ODO - NOT!

I while ago I said my odo had magically reset back to zero. Well during playing with my second hand one I bought I though I'd see what the mileage was on it. I then had a look at my old magical one only to find it was not magic at all. The original importer had cut all the lines to the last digit on the LED panel. It had actually clocked over to 100,000. Forgin sneaky bastiches :(

Not sure if it's different on the mainland bud, but in NI the vehicle testing agency can/will record the mileage as km rather than miles. Mine hasn't been converted and has been through MOT a couple of times with me now.

Surely that means it had just clocked over to 200,000? As why would the importer have snipped the wires on the last digit if it was at say 80,000? It sounds to me the ODO was 180,000, and by snipping the wire on the first digit it rolled it back to 80,000 mile.
