'Best' Supra Street Suspension...?

Hi everyone,

With black Friday in a few days I've been thinking about changing my coilovers to something a bit better suited to my needs. I don't track my car and would just like something pretty comfortable with decent handling.

I had a look through some old threads like this but the good ones are at least 2-3 years old so I just wanted to see what are people's opinions on this?

I've always read kW v3 we're very good and a good friend recommended HKS hipermax gt. I don't really want to spend over a grand but will if everyone thinks the difference is worth it. Thanks.

loads will argue to see Chris Wilson on suspension setup, doubt you will get much change for a grand though but maybe worth dropping him an email.

Your 19s wont be helping at all Mike, I'm tempted to go back to 18s or the same route as Jamie Fosta with the fat tyre on the back just so its comfortable.

Chris Wilson, can't go wrong with his set-up :)

+1 for a Chris Wilson setup here.

Thanks for all the CW votes so far, i'll have to send him an email and see how much he wants for this. I've heard good things before about this.

Eibach springs and Bilstein dampers

Do you also mean CW setup mate? Or some other Bilstein damper setup? If different do you have a link? thanks.

Dare I mention Tein ? Basic set is around £350 on Ebay and granted they do come in for a lot of flack from some people on here. But I have had Teins on my car for over 8 years with no issues.

I would consider Tein i guess but i've heard a lot of bad and also i've heard they rot pretty bad and i really despise rust lol

I've had 3 street cars with Meister-R coilovers on, I've gone for their GT1s for the supra and I've been impressed with every set so far. Very comfortable for coilovers too. Much better than Bilstein dampers in my opinion.

I actually had an old set of Meister-R on this car before and really liked how it drove, thanks for reminding me this is definitely something i would consider going back to :)

Chris may think that Black Friday is a power cut whilst at the Pub. :)

:D

Can someone give a bit more info about the CW set up? I've even heard mention on here somewhere that they can be ride height adjustable? I want mine a little lower than stock but no firmer. I'm hesitant to buy lowering springs in case they are too low so would like adjustment so I can get it just right.

Ride height currently is OK but advox coil overs that are fitted are way too firm

I have CW suspension on one of my supras, tein SS with edfc on the other.

CWs are superior comfort wise, handling is pretty good too. The supra with teins handles better for sure, but that could be due to it having TRD roll bars and strut brace too.

You can adjust the height of the CWs but only if they have the sleeves, plus you need to remove the suspension off the car to do so (i think?)

The hipermax are meant to be good too

Once they're set how many people actually adjust or even touch their suspension, not many i bet.

Set platform at your desired height with a good progressive spring with a sensible spring rate is all you need with maybe

adjustable damping

Anything else for rd use is just overkill imo
