Mike2JZ
Seems like a lot of faff. Just buy a WIFI powerline kit, have one myself for the last few years and no issues

Mike2JZ
powerline kit? Running over copper wire? Runs over the mains, won't make a difference if you are using WiFi. Could be a limitation if you were running hardlines.
Jellybean
I have Cat 5/6 Ethernet ports wired in all rooms , alot quicker than using copper
stevie_b
I would do one of two things: 1) Just use one or two wifi extenders, like the ones you linked to. They don't use a 2nd network. or 2) Use a wireless access point. Instead of using the original wifi signal from your router to rebroadcast it, these pick up the internet from your ethernet sockets and broadcast that. Give it the same wifi name and password as your primary wifi, and your devices should swap between them relatively easily (a few seconds delay if you're walking about, perhaps). Wez
As per Stevies post above, if you create new SSID dont expect your device to just jump networks, I have found that most mobile devices will hang onto the connected wireless network as long as possible even though a much stronger network is available. Multiple AP via the CAT5/6 wiring with same SSID and passcode is what I would do too
