JCresswell Posted April 16, 2003 Share Posted April 16, 2003 Hi Ive just fitted my UK spec brakes (well a bloke at the garage did) all ok,,, New Lines, Discs and callipers brill,,, real easy BUT and here it is i needed 5mm spacers, okay i thought but would i need longer studs???? No said the bloke so i left him to it.. Ive just picked it up and they work fab everything looks great and they hall the car up real quick and i havent used them in anger yet (gotta bed them in) got home and looked at the studs, mmmmmmm not really happy, although the garage said they where safe enough i think im gona fitt longer studs, i know leon has studs but who is he whats his email? and if i cant get ahold of leon any idea what pitch, size and length the originals are? so that i can order a set with 5-6 mm more thread?? PS anyone want a set of jap brakes ? im gona stick them on ebay unless someone wants to make me an offer, i have discs too all in good nic! Steve Cargill Posted April 16, 2003 Share Posted April 16, 2003 Hi Jamie, I guess that means your wheels don't fit over the UK brakes. Do a BBS search on spacers and see what people think of them........ The difference is amazing, once they have bedded in and especially when warm the braking from speed is stunningly good. Need4Speed Posted April 16, 2003 Share Posted April 16, 2003 Jamie Five threads is NOT enough to keep your wheels on. Put longer studs on before it's too late. A good guide is the racing regulation that requires a thread depth of 1.5 times the stud diameter. I've done this and it's not difficult but a wheel gun does help.
