Danhook97
Evening all, i have been looking at a tt auto that is currently for sale, i was wondering how much it would cost to convert it to manual and how much work is involved? Also any garage recommendations of where to get the work done would also be very grateful for.
np89
A fucking fortune...... lol to be honest theres lots of different ways. A true OEM conversion can set you back 6k or so. An adapted setup with say a BMW box, considerably less but then there are some drivability sacrifices with ratios etc. Its not a particularly hard job. A friend of mine recently paid £400 for a top notch chaser R154 conversion with a local drift mechanic on a TT Auto. Another friend paid £900 for a mk3 R154 conversion with considerable fabrication with a different guy. Depends who you use tbh but any competant mechanic should be able to do it and not charge the earth. Other "specialists" could charge you a couple of grand. Just because they are a popular choice doesnt mean they are the best or even the most cost effective. Bottom line, find someone you really trust to do it for you! pedrosixfour
I have a genuine direct fit R154 conversion, absolutely 100% complete kit, available if you are interested. Everything is in perfect mechanical order, some parts are nearly new, with less than 1000 miles done since fitting and I ran the kit in my track (not drift) car for three years with no issues whatsoever. And when I say it is a 100% complete kit I do mean down to the last nut and bolt, the manual gear surround, clutch pedal, cylinder & lines. Everything.
