The front wheels arrived yesterday and they weren't exactly what i was expecting..

I ordered et25 for the rear

And et35 for the front.

I figured in order to achieve the higher offset for the front they would decrease the size of the dish by bringing the face further out and subsequently pushing the barrel back which in turn ment id have a nice amount of room to add some spacers which would then push everything back out and provide clearance of my uk spec calipers... that was the theory anyway and perhaps if they were genuine 2 or 3 piece wheels that would be the case however these are cast 1 piece wheels and thats not how they do it.

They seemingly just machine 10mm off the back of the hub face. Bollocks.

Im going to send back the 15mm spacers and buy some 20mm ones, hopefully I'll just about be able to still squeeze them under the arches and clear the calipers.. its going to be close though!

Failing that i will have to buy the 8.5j fronts

Nice write up and your car looks great. Saw it in the flesh at the Ace meet back in June.

I bought the same cage too from Fosta and after seeing yours am tempted to pull it back out and do it gold, looks really nice.

Thank you, yeah i remember speaking with you briefly i think.

Im glad i bought the cage in gold.. i almost just bought a bare metal one

Looking good man, the Gold wheels will look ace! But biased in saying that as mine has a similar looking wheel with Black Bodywork :)

I think the gold wheels would look good but im worried about going to over the top with the gold.

I already have a gold roll cage, gold calipers and gold stickers on the windows, im concerned that if i now do gold wheels aswell its going to start detracting from the overall look of the car

Ok lol what il do it fit them and take some pictures.

I have already been talking with a company that will powder coat the centres shadow chrome though then id fit gold rivets and wheels bolts

They would but i wouldnt be able to afford them right now.

My priorities are with the single turbo build right now. Then, once thats done and out the way il be on the look out for a nice rare set of quality wheels

18x10 +35 is snug enough for the front (basically flush). You'd never get them under there with a spacer!

These are 18x9.5 +21:

I have a 245/40/18 on there just now and they scrub at times. I'll need to go down to a 235 or 225 to avoid that.

18x10 +20 (your +35 with 15mm spacer) would poke an extra 7.4mm more than this. No chance :D (Well, unless you go for a 225/35 or something, then maybe just!)

Its going to be very close for sure. I might end up having to buy 8.5j

Are your aches rolled?

Mine are rolled and ever so slightly pulled too

After 3 coats of high build primer and wet sanding i got a couple of coats of black under coat on tonight.

The HKS purple paint i bought came as a 3 stage kit. Under coat, base coat and clear coat (4 stage if you include primer)

Im taking my time with this and doing it properly. The last thing i want is to rush it and it only look mediocre.

Nothing winds me up more than when you see a car that has clearly had alot of time, money and thought put into it but then has something such as this thats been done badly.. it can so easily detract from all the other hard work youve put in.

People will always bypass the things you've done well just to criticise the one thing you did badly.

Mine are rolled yep.

Keen to see the results, you may get away with it given the pull! Running low is in your favour too as you'll get that wee bit of negative camber to help as well. :)

Looks great that. totally agree, a badly done cam cover ruins an engine bay, I didn't trust my mediocre skills so wimped out and got it done professionally.

Got a couple of coats of the base coat on tonight and placed it next to the fire for abit of heat lol.

Looks really good, little bit of orange peel to it but i expected that.

Im going to apply about 4 coats of this which will then give me enough depth to give it a good wet sand which will smooth it all out before applying the clear coat
