Paul Whiffin
Well we've just finished off another one of our Supra BMW DCT 7 speed gearbox conversions and the results are pretty amazing. So on Lee Burley's Supra we've done nothing else apart from change the gearbox from the stock autobox to the BMW 7 speed DCT. Stock autobox best I could get was: 0-60 5.60 0-100 9.88 30-50 2.10 50-70 1.56 30-70 3.66 30-100 7.15 With the DCT 7 speed gearbox: 0-60 4.5 (I did 1 run in 4.2 but didn't get a 0-100 reading) 0-100 8.69 30-50 1.43 50-70 1.68 30-70 3.11 30-100 6.34 As you see from the chart its knocked over 1 second off the 0-60 and 0-100, this was with 5 gearchanges on the DCT gearbox versus 3 on the stock autobox included in that time as well, not bad! Video to follow soon....

Paul Whiffin
What setup is Lee's car, bpu? About 550bhp approx, see here for details https://www.facebook.com/pg/garagewhif1/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1147023558685215 - - - Updated - - - What setup is Lee's car, bpu? Supra2jze
Impressive. How much would that cost (Gearbox + Labour) ?
Scooter
Certainly impressive, re the cost it's going to be mainly one for the guys already with a syvecs ecu as I believe you'll need one to control everything. I'm sure this would be an awesome upgrade to a bpu auto but with box install plus ecu and mapping I'd imagine not so financially attractive! Pete
Isn't 0-60 in 5.6 seconds a bit slow?
Big Supes
Isn't 0-60 in 5.6 seconds a bit slow? You would have thought that was stock 0-60mph. Whatever the case, scrubbing 1 sec off is mighty impressive.
TheTurtleshead
Isn't 0-60 in 5.6 seconds a bit slow? On a first attempt, on a damp concrete runway, I did 5.2 0-60 with stock TT6 power.
Paul Whiffin
Isn't 0-60 in 5.6 seconds a bit slow? Wheel spin issues with 550bhp and no traction control. Sometimes more power can slow you down.

el_bandido
Paul, does the addition of the DCT allow for more sophisticated traction control strategies?
Chris Wilson
I would imagine mapping for optimal traction control is more complex on a an automatic, as if you reduce engine torque they may want to change up....
gordy.r
Paul, doesn't the Syvecs take care of traction issues? This is the conversion I have been interested in the last few months and following very closely.
