j_jza80
It's not. It's a BMW. The Z5. Not the Supra. Not the Supra. Not the Supra. I did say that is a possibility, but what you can see of the styling makes it very unlikely to be a BMW. But it's definitely a possibility. Frank Bullitt
Forgetting the Supra, is like to see a Celica GT4 re-vamp. Isn't that what the GT86/FT86 is supposed to be?
SPG
Isn't that what the GT86/FT86 is supposed to be? The AE86 was the original model which the GT86 took over from, Toyota Corolla. http://blog.toyota.co.uk/toyota-sports-cars-past-and-present-ae86-vs-gt86 Whereas the Celica GT4 was the full blown Rally (Byproduct of arc welding) . Connor
Anyone heard anything about the recent Copenhagen Toyota event? Hi mate, Yes (my general manager attended) and I was at a national Toyota Sales conference last night... The new Supra is confirmed and expected to hit our showrooms in 2019! There are no pictures (there was security on the door doing frisks and confiscating all phones, cameras etc etc). Unfortunately that's all we know, no idea what engine variants or anything. But it is concrete. There will be a rebirth!

JasonR24
I so hope that it looks as similar to the FT1 concept otherwise what’s the point. Edited December 7, 2017 by JasonR24 (see edit history)
mwilkinson
I continue to pray the thing seen driving around isn't the new Supra and that Toyota have instead secretly developed the Supra elsewhere......
Havard
If it's an FT-1 lookalike then I will consider getting one. If it looks like that lump of turd driving round the ring dressed as a zebra, then I think I'll pass. H.

I think it will take a lot of design cues from the FT1, certainly from the back and side. the front remains to be seen, and looks quite plain so far in the spy shots. Starting to really like it from the back even now.. Edited December 8, 2017 by jim_supra (see edit history)

jim_supra
^ Not sure how many times it has to be said, that IS NOT the new Supra. Is this statement fact or opinion? Not trying to be funny, but if it's fact then it's good to know for sure, and if so I wonder what model the car in the spy shots is going to be? As I said before I'm starting to like it! Layout and design doesn't really fit with any other model in Toyota's previous performance model range as revival. Perhaps an entirely new model then? I was told by the MD of my local Toyota that this is one of the new sub-brand Toyota’s becoming available. It will be TRD in the USA and over here it will be called GR (Gazoo Racing). I believe Gaz6002 also confirmed this. The Supra will, I imagine, be a separate stand-alone model and I do not personal believe it will be under the GR moniker. I'll keep everyone updated as and when we are! JasonR24
Just my personal opinion but having a TRD brand instead of gazoo racing would be much more appealing.
mwilkinson
Just my personal opinion but having a TRD brand instead of gazoo racing would be much more appealing. Yeah, I don't get the Gazoo Racing thing. TRD is synonymous with Toyota and racing the world over. It would have been a much better idea to continue with this branding. JasonR24
Whats Gazoo? http://toyotagazooracing.com/our-story/ “Over the years, Toyota has been participating in many different forms of motorsport, including Formula One, the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race. These activities were conducted by separate entities within the company, such as “Toyota Racing”, “Lexus Racing” and “GAZOO Racing”. Of those, “GAZOO Racing” in particular first entered the Nürburgring 24 Hours race in 2007 with two used Altezzas, supported by a team of mechanics that comprised employees selected from various departments within Toyota, under the belief that “the roads build the people, and the people build the cars”. This was very much in line with the thinking of Toyota’s founder, Kiichiro Toyoda, who said already in 1952: “Car racing is more than just entertainment. It is vital to the development of the Japanese passenger vehicle industry. Just as athletes test their capabilities by competing with all their strength in the Olympics, automakers use racing as an opportunity to push a vehicle's performance to the limits and compete for supremacy, enabling them to discover new ways of advancing automotive technology.” With this in mind, in April 2015, Toyota went back to the basis and united Toyota’s motorsports activities into “TOYOTA GAZOO Racing”, placing motorsports as a fundament in its commitment to make ever-better cars.”
