Jake
What does it mean when a foreign supplier quotes a "FOB" price? From doing a search on the net it seems that FOB might stand for Free On Board but I'm none the wiser. What does free on board mean? Anyone know? Gaz Walker
It also means Freight on Board. Its very much an Asian term. It basically means the total price from a supplier, packed and delivered to the docks inc all taxes, de-registration, paperwork etc - everything. This is an an inclusive price normally, you would just pay the shipping fee (and any UK costs/taxes) on top of this price. Regards, Gaz.
tDR
basically means the all up cost of the car at the point it is put on board a ship, not including shipping fee or marine insurance.

Jake
Oh! So I would still have to pay the shipping. That is probably going to make it too expensive. Thanks for the help guys!

Jake
It's freight Gaz. These chinese guys are hard work to deal with. Half the time they only answer one question from a bunch and that takes hours. I bet the Japanese are a lot more efficient.

Nope, the Japanese are just like that too I'd try any main logistics company, BAX Global, Geo Logistics, Exel Freight etc. They'll need weights, size of boxes and collection delivery address for a quote. It won't be cheap for a one off individual, try through a company if you can. Regards, Gaz.

Tell me about it as Gaz says the Japanese are just as bad, if not worse IMO. If you need any help Jake give me a shout, been here long enough to know how to get things done, plus I have some good friends who run shipping departments who can help. Is it HK or mainland China? Maybe their english is worse than me , that is why it takes long. I was born in HK and I can speak Cantonese and Mandarine. Maybe I can help you to solve the problem. Just let me know anytime if you need the help.

Class One
You want to try and get a CIF price. This is cost insurance and freight. This would be the price that you pay import duties and Vat on. Used to be in freighting (imports) in my past life before my government lobotomy.
