Hitbox Junkie
The ones that have facebook and have myself added to it will already know I am doing this advent. Back story is that I have never boxed or done any sort of combat sport like it. I played rugby at a very high level until I had to stop when I was around 18 down to injury and work. But I am loving this sport and the training is awesome. Confident building isnt the word for it. best part is that its all for charity. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/AntMillsUWCBForCancerResearch?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=fundraisingpage&utm_content=AntMillsUWCBForCancerResearch&utm_campaign=pfp-share Not asking for any donation but do so at your free will all the donations go to cancer research. If anyone wants a ticket for the advent let me know. It is on the 26th of November. Awesome sport, has anyone else done anything like this or have done boxing before and have any advice? I think I will defiantly take the sport up after the event too.

supra joe
Done boxing - kickboxing and MMA for years for years. Started competing as a kid and still train now. My best advice... Hammer the shit out of your fitness ! You would be suprised how wrecked you are after the first round. Chin down and pick your shots. Do not stand around lol keep moving ! And most of all relax !!!! You will be throwing energy away throwing shots when you and tense. You don't see many people throw body shots in these charity do's so get them in. You would be suprised how quick they can turn the tide of a fight.
scorling
I had a go at this earlier in the year. My fitness was great but my technique was rubbish and I discovered that at the age of 59 I had no natural talent. Still a fantastic experience and I would recommend it to anyone. Herol Graham was a guest in the 3,000 crowd, he assured me I had no future in boxing!

I am really enjoying it though and only have had 4 weeks of training 2 sessions a week.
supra joe
Guy in the grey shorts is plane spotting lol. Tell him to tuck his chin in lol. And not so much bouncing, conserve his energy and work on angles more.

Looking back on it I know I need to improve so much of my conditioning, guard and defense work as seemed I was taking hits for fun and obviously I don't want to be. ( Im the guy in white gloves and black shorts ) All 3 rounds are on my youtube channel there. Really enjoyed it mind.

That slight little lean to the right or left can make him miss shots, you get hit and its to be expected. I personally hold my guard a little higher. Try tapping his shots out of the way and quickly returning with a shot of your own. Stick a little pressure on and you will be suprised of the outcome oh and try walk him to the corner and let loose lol.

Hitbox Junkie
Last saturday I had my fight and it was the most amazing exsperince to date. Walking out infront of 2000+ people and the strangest thing about it was that I wasnt nervous, and I usualy hate doing things infront of people. Here is the fight from there ring side gopro enjoy. ( I am in the red corner )
scorling
You looked good to my untrained eye, you kept your shape better than your opponent. It seems like many of these fights are given as draws if both boxers have made a good effort and survive all three rounds. Well done, as you say it's a unique experience isn't it! supra joe
You were deffo landing more shots. You could have taken him out with overhand rights, just looking at how he was dropping his hands and throwing from the waist lol. Didn't seem like he was keen to protect himself either lol. As for you... you deffo looked more composed and were the better at defending, I'd say stick at it and stop looking at the floor when you are bobbing and weaving lol. Keep your eyes on him so you can see if he's moving off or not. Apart from that well done ! It's not easy getting in the ring. All nerves until you walk towards it though then just adrenaline;)
Kendo11
You looked good there, good guarding. He was swinging that right arm like he was digging to Australia haha!
