RedM
Had a Toyota service yesterday and they only put semi-synthetic in. Went back and asked them and they said they don't use fully synth. in anything. Do I need to go back and demand they put it right?
Digsy
I believe the standard Toyota oil is semi synthetic 10W30. Not sure what brand they use.
RedM
Do I need it changing though?
Digsy
Depends on how you drive your car and whether its modded or not. The stock Toyota oil should be good for the recommeded service interval of 9000 miles on a stock car, although I doubt many members on heer actually leave theirs in for that long. If your car is modded, or you plan on doing any track days or other sustained thrashing then its pretty much up to you what you do. I don't think you'll be able to demand that Toyota change it unless you specifically asked them to put a specific type of oil in. If your car is nearly stock I'd leave it in for a few thousand miles. RedM
Totally stock and I do mostly urban driving with the odd thrash on private roads. It'll be changed in about 3-4 months anyway.
