kubus1
Is it a good idea to lower my car with just the springs or should I really be looking to get some proper susspension? I looked on the Suprastore and they have some Eibach springs. Are those any good? And itf not what could you recommend? I m just thinking of lowering and stiffening a car a bit, nothing crazy. Thanks Cuba
SMW
I think it depends a lot on your budget. Chris Wilson does a Koni setup which I believe is very good but will set you back a few quid. My car has the Eibach springs that make it sit lower which looks great but I can't say I've noticed any overall improvement in handling. Remember if you do lower the car be prepared to scrape speed bumps on a regular basis!
B3any
I got Eibachs on, make a hell of a difference, not only lowering, but responsiveness and quality of ride is alot better not too much harsher, although i still have got too much body roll for my like. Roy
i have the stock toyota shocks but with H&R lowering springs. i kept the ride comfort but thought it looked better lowered slightly. unfortunately, those damned humps don't help ... Adam W
Shorter springs on standard shocks are a bad idea.
Roy
aside from the fact that the car came like that, i shuold have clarified that it has been my intention to change the shocks to probably a set of koni's eventually. why are lowered springs on standard shocks a bad idea (not a techie) ? i must say that compared to a few supes i have sat in, mine is quite comfortable without TOO much body roll so far ... was wondering if that wasn't too bad an idea considering london roads? Willson
I've just replaced my 100k mile teins with some height adjustable H&R Coilovers from Ibrar (http://www.pro-alloys.co.uk). I'm very pleased. The car now feels like the 40 grand luxury sports car that it is rather than the knocking, rock-hard, old race car from before. Firm but comfortable. Just took a bloke for his ride in a Supe and he was surprised at the comfort and handling.
Need4Speed
I've got standard Koni adjustables on the rear, set on stiff with lowered springs and it all seems pretty stable to me. The konis alsom also allow you to set the spring platforms at two different levels so you can adjust the ride height a little. For the price I think they're pretty good. I suspect I've got TRD anti-roll bars but haven't had them out to look.
