ShawnPreece
I got a new iPhone 7 only a week or so ago now and this morning when I plugged it into the computer it came up that there was an update available... I clicked ok to do this update and it came up with an error message (error code 6 which after googling is to do with security software on the computer) and my phone wont turn on... I have done a backup this morning so there is one available on this computer but it wont let me use it and just keeps coming up with this error code whenever I try and update/restore my phone. I know apple have alot of update problems but how do I go around this to restore my phone so I can use it? I have done plenty of updates on this computer before and all have been fine so cant see that its an issue to do with the software on my computer but either way I cant turn any of the security off as its on a works computer and all the security settings are locked by IT. Help please!!!!!! I need my phone

ShawnPreece
Edit as IT to switch off explain mistake /QUOTE] They dont like external downloads so trying not to go down that route unless I really have to lol, is that the only way I can do it? Iv updated the software plenty of times before on this computer and had no issues
ibby
It could have changed a policy to stop this
ShawnPreece
The plot thickens.... I got my old iphone out the car at lunchtime to see how that reacts with the computer and itunes recognises it totally fine as normal however in "my computer" where you see the network drives there is normally a "shawn's iphone" icon where you can go in and get your photos but there is no device shown... this has always come up fine before and there is connection fine between phone and computer as itunes is recognising it.... im getting very confused
Fitz
How long have you used the 7 for? Not that this post will help your situation but thought if its pretty much new why not set it up as a new iPhone then when you get home copy the back up from your old iPhone? JackyBoi
Uninstall iTunes, re-install from Apple website, try again. If the issue continues, contact the Apple "Genius's" aka fraud
ShawnPreece
Thanks for your responses How long have you used the 7 for? Not that this post will help your situation but thought if its pretty much new why not set it up as a new iPhone then when you get home copy the back up from your old iPhone? I only have my backup on this computer at work I dont have one at home as my laptop broke about a year ago and haven't replaced it as I very rarely used it and on this computer it wont let me set it as a new iphone the only option it gives me when I plug it in to the computer is to restore and update (which isn't working as it comes up with the error message), I have a saved backup from this morning where I backed it up before doing the update but that I know of there is no way for me to access it. Ive only had the phone just over a week so if I could restore it from the other phone and only lose a weeks worth of data then I would still do that but I cant see any way of setting it as a new iphone to install from the backup. Uninstall iTunes, re-install from Apple website, try again. If the issue continues, contact the Apple "Genius's" aka fraud Tried re-installing itunes yeah but no luck, going to go leave work early to go into the apple store and see what they say

Al Massey
You may need to put your phone in DFU mode and get iTunes to reboot it
ShawnPreece
You may need to put your phone in DFU mode and get iTunes to reboot it Ahh right, it's working ok atm so I'm weary of connecting it to iTunes again
Al Massey
Ok if you get the error again. Delete iTunes on the computer. Reinstall iTunes after you've done a windows update and security update. Check for any updates on iTunes then connect phone. Or just use the cloud to back up and update
