Urgent Help Needed. Brakes Binding

Hi. I am having a problem with the rear brakes on my Supra. They are binding on massively. When I jack it up in the air and they free off, the brakes operate as should as does the handbrake. But, once I put in back on the ground they bind again. The calipers are not tight either. What can I do?

Thanks

Take the two 14mm bolts out. Put the caliper to one side but not hanging from the hose. Then see if the two bits those bolts came out of rotate and go in and out, if not or they are stiff get a 17mm spanner and try and rotate them, if they move keep going back and forth, use some penetrating fluid and rotate and pull out (mole grips can help here) to get them out.

Re the caliper try and push the piston back in, you'll need a fair but of leverage.

The ease or not of these two processes will tell you where you need to put the work in most.

Are the pads worn evenly?

Is there play in the hub bearing? If you run silly wheels they give the rear hub bearings serious grief. Jack it up, fully release the hand brake, make sure the wheel turns freely, then rock the wheel in the vertical plane with hands at 12 and 6 o'clock, and again with hands at 9 and 3 o'clock, in the horizontal plane. There should be NO free play. If there is the hub bearing is shot. It may well need a new hub, too. Not an easy job at home, you need a BIG press.
