T2 MSW
As the 2JZ in stock form is non interferance is it worth the extra money for the gates racing cam belts. They are £90 compared to the gates aftermarket £30. Is it worth the extra cost with the intended power goal of 600 hp
Sheefa
Why bother going cheaper and likely inferior for the sake of £60 regardless of whether it's non-interference? I would get the Gates Racing one personally and have.
Scooter
On the other hand they never seem to fail so why bother upgrading!? Might be better putting the money into a billet idler wheel, as the idlers have been known to break, but again it's rare.
Tricky-Ricky
Agreed! a std belt will be fine, BHP and engine torque output have no effect on the cam belt loading's, in fact the biggest load on a cam belt takes place at idle.
T2 MSW
cool, all go for the standard ones then as the difference in cost for the cam belt and fan belt is half way towards a new crank pulley.
Tricky-Ricky
Perhaps i should add one caveat to my last comment, using very lumpy cams or higher compression and very high boost pressures will add more load to a cam belt for obvious reasons, but under normal single turbo 500 to 800BHP range a std belt should be fine.
