I just bought a Lexus GS430 to do a engine swap into my black Supra and wanted to know if anybody can help with part numbers for the soarer engine mounts and rear sump which are required for the swap. Thanks

Also any recommendations for a adapter plate to mate up the W58 box?

I didn't realise a w58 could be mounted ?? Did they do a manual v8 soarer ?

Sounds like a good project, looking forward to this.

I know you are asking for part numbers, which I don't have unfortunately.

I do know though that you need the parts that come from a 1991 Toyota Soarer 1UZ-FE.

As I'm sure you are aware the 3UZ, is the final incarnation of the original 1UZ-FE.

A soarer 1UZ-FE as mentioned above will go straight in, later engines aren't as strong as the earliest version, and will require sump engine mount changes etc.

Look forward to the project thread ;)

Some gearbox info here too: -

You'll need a Soarer V8 sump to clear the Supra cross member. I've listed the arm brackets and mounts myself and another owner used for our 1UZ VVTi, which were Soarer arms and LS400 mounts. The LS400 arms apparently were too wide for the Supra chassis. Could be different challenge for your GS430 motor though.

I used the U1 bell housing that came with the LS400 VVTi V8 auto box, a Supra A343 TT gearbox mounts onto that with no adapter plate so your W58 should also. Prop may need shortening though.

Your parts:

Soarer V8

PAN SUB-ASSY, OIL, NO.2

12102-50030

Soarer V8

PLATE, OIL PAN BAFFLE, NO.1

12121-50040

Soarer V8

BRACKET, ENGINE MOUNTING, FRONT NO.1 RH

12311-50040

GS430

BRACKET, ENGINE MOUNTING, FRONT NO.1 LH

12315-50070

GS430

BRACKET, ENGINE MOUNTING, FRONT NO.1 RH

12311-50070

GS430

INSULATOR, ENGINE MOUNTING FRONT, HEAT, RH

12391-50040

GS430

STABILIZER, ENGINE MOUNTING

12381-50070 (07/2000 - 07/2003)

12381-50071 (08/2003 - 12/2004)

GS430

INSULATOR, ENGINE MOUNTING, FRONT

12361-50110 (07/2000 - 07/2003)

12361-50111 (08/2003 - 12/2004)

This combo worked well for an LS400 VVTi into a Supra chassis:

Soarer V8

BRACKET, ENGINE MOUNTING, FRONT NO.1 LH

12315-50030

Soarer V8

BRACKET, ENGINE MOUNTING, FRONT NO.1 RH

12311-50040

LS400 VVTi

2 x INSULATOR, ENGINE MOUNTING, FRONT

12361-50100

LS400 VVTi

2 x STABILIZER, ENGINE MOUNTING

12381-50080

Cheers

Mike

It's the weakest manual box available so roll of the dice if it'll last on a V8. Saying that I know of one that has been running for a couple of years and it's survived so far..

Quite possibly Wez, the oil filter mount will foul with something after looking at the diagrams. The 1998 LS400 one certainly does. The Soarer V8 one fits and clears everything on the Supra, not sure on the AC pump though as mine isn't currently fitted to confirm.

The two attached diagrams show the GS430 mount and the Soarer mount. I've listed the part numbers for you and a pic of a Soarer mounted fitted to my V8.

I was recommended TTV Racing for a flywheel solution :-

Also, the oil filter will likely foul the sway bar and require a relocation kit.

Yes TTV were very good for my custom flywheel. Ryan G put me onto them as he did the same for his.

I (well Lee actually), also had to lower the front roll bar on custom mounts (that Lee made), to clear the oil filter. Check my 2UZ build thread for some pics, I think I posted some....?
