For those about to rock! We salute you!

So to continue along the same lines as a few other threads I've started recently, I thought I would throw this one in the mix too.

Now I know not everyone is into rock music (if not, probably best to discontinue reading), but I thought it would be a good way to share bands which we may not of heard of but more importantly, present some opportunities for fellow members to meet at some gigs and share a whiskey or ten!

I'm from Aberdeen so the amount of decent bands that come here is pretty dire! Generally I find myself in Edinburgh/Glasgow several times throughout the year to catch some shows. From small venues like The Garage and O2 ABC to the bigger ones like Murrayfield and the Hydro.

I know rock music is a pretty general term, as there are a number of sub categories (screemo, metal, punk, old school , etc), however, my personal favourite is American Rock over the past couple of decades!

So to kick things off, I've compiled a list of 10 of my favourite songs. If you haven't heard them, give them a listen and let me know what you think. If you like to cruise with the windows down and rock music playing, you might appreciate some of them!

1) Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart

2) Puddle Of Mudd - Spaceship

3) Rise Against - Savior

4) Nickelback - Midnight Queen

5) Black Stone Cherry - Blame It On The Boom Boom

6) Hinder - Take It To The Limit

7) A New Revolution - Rise

8) Buckcherry - Gluttony

9) Hoobastank - Same Direction

10) 3 Doors Down - Still Alive

Thanks guys and any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

Yeah, I know, it's a bit of a random topic but I've always seen music and driving go hand-in-hand! Plus, so many people spend hundreds, sometimes thousands of pounds on ICE that it may be a worthy subject to comment on! It might be a flop topic, but you never know!

You need to listen to

3 Days Grace

Halestorm

Shinedown

Alter Bridge

Daughtry

That should keep you going for a while.

H.

Agreed, very much a fan of them all! Had the pleasure of seeing all of them live (apart from Three Days Grace) all within the last few years. Daughtrys earlier stuff was good but no so much a fan of their newer albums!

I went to a load of live stuff when I was in school. the darkness, ozzy osbourne, iron maiden, green day, metallica, tenacious d, guns n roses, a lot of metal bands too. Fun times but I haven't been to a show in maybe 6 years.

I like black stone cherry and hoobastank from your list already, I'll check the rest out.

I still enjoy rock but listen to a lot of other genres, recently I've had stone gods, wheatus, the living end and the hellacopters albums on my playlist.

I don't think many on here would be into the sort of stuff I like at all :)

Basically it starts with early Metallica (they got me into playing guitar, after all) and just goes heavier from there.

Slayer, Pantera, Carcass, Terrorizer, Brutal Truth, Ion Dissonance, Pig Destroyer, Nasum, Agoraphobic Nosebleed. The list goes on and on. :D

Being up here, you should come and check out either of my bands - MING & Grudge. Grudge are playing tonight at the function room upstairs in O'Neills actually. Click HERE for one of our tunes :D

I'm more of a Dio / Sabbath , VH /DLR, Deep Purple Man myself. But I Generally like Music that I just like. In fact Chaos AD has been the 7am morning anthem wake up call for the neighbours then they are up till 2 in the morning partying the night before. I now quite like Sepultura ;) (I'm strangely drawn to Electric Six also)

James, I'll check them out, thanks!

I do like bits and pieces when it comes to metal, generally the odd one or two songs from a band. It's also usually more common bands like Slipknot, Disturbed and Metallic. Haven't heard of most of the bands you guys have listed but I'll definitely give them and listen.
