Sill -- Jacking points repair options

As you can see my sills need to stripped back and treated. Would someone confirm what the next steps are? As I have read this thread and the other one floating about, but not certain whether the galfroid can go straight on to the metal once I have scurfed it back with a wire brush and drill.

Galvafroid paint is designed to go on bare steel. Good work with the vice, that is a good idea.

Thanks Chris, I had the vice lying around and thought I would give it a go. It worked well. Do you agree with Jellybean. Is that the correct steps? Or would you do it differently?

Can I ask why you chose DINITROL 447 RUBBER BASED BLACK STONE CHIP over the DINITROL 4941 UNDERBODY WAX? Was it just personal preference?

Based on Galvafroid data sheet, , Just to answer your IM, Trevor is based in Wicklow Ireland , might be a bit far to travel :) He is from the UK , motorsport fab is his background ; posted up the photos to give members some idea's, it was 738 Euro ,

  • Sills strengthened & straighten
  • Rust Treated on Sills
  • 2 X Front jacking points box section
  • 2 X Rear jacking points box section
  • Welding
  • Underseal
  • Suspension sprayed in ACF50

Galvafroid should not be overcoated with materials

containing strong solvents such as chlorinated and aromatic

hydrocarbons, esters and ethers.

DINITROL 447 Stone Chip Protect Super contains no aggressive solvents such as chlorinated hydrocarbons (CFC/CHC), esters and ketones.

Oh ok. Thanks for the info.

I'm doing all the work on my sills myself but just thought if I could get those box sections pre-made it's be handy.

I have no idea what is in the Dinitrol 4941, so maybe the 447 is the safer bet

I was going to 447 over the Grafroid then Dinitrol 4941 :)

I can ask a price if you want some made up
