JohnA
...When re-connecting the battery it is best to be done with the ignition turned on, so that the alarm unit is not damaged by the voltage surge.. Never heard of that one before. Are you sure this is true?

SteveC
SteveC, I've deleted your post.........Fair enough, I should have thought more before posting. I just remembered how frustrated I was when I couldn't get mine started and hit submit! Never heard of that one before. Are you sure this is true? The info came from the Engineer that repairs the alarms so I assume that it's correct.

I have this problem* with another of my cars but, would like to try the "supra fix" if possible ? * = Took battery out to charge it overnight and now when re-connecting, the alarm goes off and I can't switch it off - My neighbours will be happy since I got up early to do this 06:10 today. Note: I have a UK supra too so, might need this in the future. Thanks
Matt Harwood
I'd have thought that re-connecting a battery with the ignition on would cause the mother of all voltage surges! That's something I've always been taught never to do!
Sharpie
Don't worry Matt, nothing is switched on and they keys are in my pocket I have the same rule, don't power anything up, until you have a good connection.

nickyboy
I had the UK alarm manual with my old Sup and it says in there that when the key fob does not work, hold it down pointing it at the car for several seconds and it will reset and the doors will open. Kopite
I had this problem a few times, tried the above and it didn't do anything. In the end, tried it an hour later and it worked. My mate who was waiting for a lift weren't too happy mind....
