I had a great weekend with great people .

I think it is worth the money.

If you had to pay for your own food and drink I'm shore you would spend more.

The fridge is like a magic box it is always full of beer. LoL

TO ME it is all about the people [family] that I don't see at other shows.

And I laughed when burna said JAE would be affected at the new cost

Why are you dragging me back into this to discuss it publicly? I'm glad I amuse you, but I thought we had discussed all this in private between us?!

But OK, being as you're misquoting me I'll jump back in. What I actually said was I hope they bring back day tickets, and the only way they would probably do that is if people voted against the enforced 4 day ticket with their pockets. If the numbers come down then they would be forced to rethink, and I hoped that would happen this year and next.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and mine differs to yours. I think JAE have gotten greedy, you believe what they tell you about costs. Perhaps I'm more cynical than you, and I'll be looking at their filed accounts later this year. Then we will know how much they made, or if they upped the ticket price to cover costs.

As I've said before I love JAE, everyone knows I love attending JAE, and have since 2006. I'm not as you put it "slagging it off", I just have a different opinion to some others on the way it's priced and if it's actually good value for money, and surely I can piss and moan about that?! As it's my hard earned money!? I have every attention on attending next year, but if I'm not welcome for not having the same view on value as others that are attending, then let me know, as I wouldn't wan't to be somewhere I'm not welcome, because that's the way you've made me feel currently.

You seem to be taking this kind of personal Al and there no need. No one is having a go at you in any way or not from what I have read.

You asked for opinions, mine and Burnas (and the NW guys) are that its too expensive :)

Im with Burna, also looking forward to them filling their accounts

I wasn't "dragging" you back into this and only used what you had said as an example.

I agree bringing back the day tickets/three day tickets would be better for some members here, but they probably scrapped it due to logistic reasons and being a nightmare to admin.

Considering the numbers that turn up at JAE it must be a nightmare.

But I don't see that changing due to the success of the event.

I know everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I feel those opinions are based on wrong information and generalisation of certain things.

As mentioned before how the cost of just camping in a field would cost £190 a couple is wrong.

But if people feel that JAE is just camping in a field than that is what this post is for, to bring life back into our stand and change the stigma of the club stand and the event for members.

To be fair, you of all people should know how changing a few things increases costs exponentially.

I know the security used were chosen by the venue and not JAE, same as the power, marquee suppliers etc.

I know the security were on £12 an hour for just the basic staff, which means the company were charging around £18 an hour.

The team leaders were on £19 an hour, so the company would charge around £25.

With the amount of security, the cost is horrendous.

The cleaners were contracted in through the venue and not JAE.

That has cost implications too.

And others have felt you were slagging it off, and with people moaning or publicly stating about not attending does have a negative affect on others.

Again, hence why I've done this post.

Because I really want the next JAE event to be great for our stand.

I want to provide everything I possibly can and make it enjoyable and cheaper for everyone.

And no one has said you aren't welcome.

Maybe I am taking this personal, I probably shouldn't.

But I worked very hard trying to organise this event, I really enjoyed organising it and I really want to make the event better for everyone in anyway I can.

But I do think that some preconceptions of it's just camping in a field for the weekend is a bit wrong.

But I'd like to change that view.

I want JAE to be the event that many members want to come to, and spend time with the club and the event itself.

Sorry if you or burna think I've attacked you or stepped out of line, that wasn't my intention

We were gutted we couldn't get to Jae this year. Love the event and getting together. Would also love to get involved with the competitions too. Unfortunately, this year we couldn't get any time off work so would have turned up after 10pm to pitch the tent. This would have cost us £160 plus fuel. If we could have got there Thursday it would have been OK for the cost, but we couldn't justify it for really what would have been one day and Sunday morning. The club price was fine. It was the lack of choice on jae tickets that stopped us going. We hope to be back next year if we have the holidays from work.

I completely understand fella, when its your hard work going into stuff its hard not to be defensive when its something your obviously passionate about. And good on you too if people weren't passionate about it then JAE would not happen at all.

Ill wait and see if the money does go on what they say it does. If you can get it back to 2006 numbers ill be very impressed :D

Couldn't have said it better. I have made many great friends since buying the Supra 13 years ago, JAE is a great place to catch up on a personal level. 2007 was my first JAE and have only missed 2!

Al did a fantastic job this year and I hope many more members can make it next year, although more options from JAE with tickets would be helpful, instead of just a 4 day ticket.

to bring life back into our stand and change the stigma of the club stand and the event for members.

The grudge against our club has nothing to do with us not taking part in the events, it stems from something much more personal from one of the JAE organisers, but I'm not going to go into that on here.

You're right I do, and that has been my whole point. The prices increases aren't justified by anything extra offered. Now you've explained where they say the extra money has gone, on security, and not on extra entertainment, then we will see when the accounts are filed, and we can agree to disagree until then.

And others have felt you were slagging it off

Who are these 'others'?! As I've either seen in person (at Rosies BBQ just before JAE) or spoken to before or after JAE, nearly everyone that attended JAE, and not one person has said to me that they thought I was "slagging off" JAE. My opinion is about JAE's current pricing, compared to what is offered in terms of value for money. But yeah great, that feels very welcoming for me to attend next year as according to you 'others' feel I'm slagging off JAE but they won't talk to me about it in person? Nice, real nice.

It's not just the hard work, I really enjoy JAE, well our club stand.

And seeing everyone again.

Well the cost only went up £5 this year.

I said the stigma not the grudge.

The price increase of £5?

That covers a 4 day event, with entertainment, competitions etc.

You seem to pick on just security?

Well if the club actually took part in JAE in previous years, you would see where the money goes too.

Just want to emphasise 4 day event ;)

We could compare the cost to other events??

Ok maybe slagging off JAE was badly phrased, but attacking the event because of their costs and apparent lack of activities/entertainment would be more apt.

I disagree, it's not a four day event, it's a two day event. JAE's itinerary that you posted says that it starts on Friday, and ends Saturday with the fireworks, the announcer over the PA even winds up the event at around midnight on a the Saturday night by thanking everyone for another JAE. The only thing on Sunday is the 4x4. Sunday use to be a full show day, so you would have 3 days. It isn't the fact the price has increased by £5, it's the fact that the option of day tickets has been removed, so you can no longer spend the weekend there at a reasonable cost.

Look Allan, you asked members to give suggestions, I've given mine about the cost, and also a solution to the problem by bringing back day tickets, which as our JAE representative you could bring up in the meeting you have with them, and highlight your fellow club members concerns.

We aren't going to agree it's a four day event, we aren't going to agree that the ticket price is worth what they are offering, so why don't we agree to disagree, or we are going to keep going around in circle going over the same stuff again and again. If you're happy to keep doing that then I'm happy to debate it until next years event with you lol But I suggest for the future success of the event, we agree to disagree mate :)

Apology accepted. You are right, I did, and still do, take umbridge with JAE's price, not yours Allan, JAE's price, and in my opinion the lack of value they give in terms of activities/entertainment. For me a day ticket price would solve that problem. That's my suggestion that you have asked for.

Don't worry I have put that across already and is on my list of things to question at the meeting :)

Well that's great to hear, and all I was asking for :) Please keep us posted on the outcome.

I have a barrage of things to question and get answers too.

Most likely get fobbed off but it's worth a try.

I do understand that the single ticket is crap for people who don't turn up on the Thursday.

  • 1 month later...

For all those that attended this year, please could you complete the JAE survey

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe5h1YtOS-pVl1DJpVGZbg1TTIayi9I1O5vAF1bIDwDAdD_eQ/viewform?c=0&w=1

This will help in improving JAE, let you raise any concerns on prices, tickets etc and it will also give us a chance of winning £500 of tickets and merchandise for the club.

Which means if we win JAE will be seriously cheaper

Cheers

Al
