and1c
So, I have the engine and box out of the car for some reason. Got a little carried away with the jobs list! While it's out I am fitting Titan auto box and hi stall TC. With that I plan to fit two transmisssion coolers and a trans oil temp gauge and sensor. Just seeing what other people have done as regards types of oil cooler and where you fitted the temp sensor? I have read up a lot of threads and there seems to be a variety of solutions. My current plan is to install two 12 row thin core coolers, (I have one in NS wheelarch currently) possibly fit one behind the IC and one in the other wheelarch. Am I going to need fans on both? Where did you fit the oil temp sensor? I have read some have done it in the front side of the tranny oil sump... This would be most upsetting though seeing as I have had the sump off , checked all looked good, replaced the filter and resealed it before I thought about this idea! Hence I would much rather use some accessory in the pipework.! thanks Edited August 30, 2016 by and1c (see edit history)
David P
There's a fluid temp sensor on the transmission "front" line, this can also serve a temp gauge.

I thought that just told the ECU what was going on with oil temps? Do I just take my wiring off the terminals on that then? cheers
David P
It does, but there's no reason why it can't do both.
and1c
I can't see why it wouldn't work, but think I will end up taking the sump off and welding a boss in!

David do you have a picture to highlight this please, as I would be interested in tapping into this?
David P
No I don't. Simply look under your Supra at the front fluid line on the transmission. Or find the pins on ECU, info in this PDF. http://www.jegs.com/InstallationInstructions/0/017/017-30-1100.pdf
and1c
IS this definately not just a thermostat type of signal? My concern is that the gauge wouldnt work from the signal provided by the OEM sensor..
David P
Try it and let us know.
