Rob Moch
hi all first of all i'll let you all know that i have used the search button but the question i still have is, as this is the first oil change I have needed to do on this car, my plan is to use the valvoline synpower 5w50 as recommended in the search section but i don't know what oils have been used before i.e. synthetic/semi-synthetic or whathaveyou. Is this ever a problem or do I just go ahead and put the valvoline in? sorry if this is a stupid question and thanks. rob

Andrew
Stupid question on my part, but you are doing a full oil change filter and all, or just sticking the new oil in?
Terminator
5W50 can squeeze past tired seals, Valvoline make a 10W50? which is use by quite a few BBS members.
Andrew
Interesting that Terminator I didn't know they did 10W/50. I had a look on their webpage and found they do a synpower 20W/50 too.

SiGainey
I've got 4x4 litre tubs of the valvoline 5W50 synpower in my roof which I don't need any more. Obviously never been opened but cost me 40 quid for the 4! Should be easy to find at any factors.. Anyone who wants them for 40 quid and lives round chester should send me an email
Chase
How come you don't want it Si? Have you got a Supe? I might be very interested, I'm in South Manchester. How long have you had it sitting around (mind you don't suppose it matters does it?)
Chase
What's the difference between 5w50 and 5w40? is 5w40 OK to use instead of 5w50?
